I heard that if you own any Disney stock you get discounted tickets to any of the parks...can anyone confirm or deny this?

If there is a shred of truth, how much stock would one need to own?

I'm feeling my leg being gently tugged at the moment......

Other ways to get a discount is thru AAA or special FL resident programs or special programs offered to other state residents from time to time.

DVC owners also receive discounted tickets/passes as well.

At one time - many years ago - there was a special program for Disney stockholders. I can't remember what it was called, but you could buy a membership and it gave you certain discounts. It was discontinued many years ago.

That was the Magic Kingdom Club. First it was free to shareholders and later you had to pay an annual fee. The club was killed because of a lack of members.

Thanks for the response...it didn't sound right and my BS alarm was going off.

Larry - are the discount sites connected to a timeshare or are they discounted tix with no strings?

No, they are completely legit! No timeshare sales are required!

They buy in bulk from all the parks, Disney, Universal, and Busch and they pass the savings on to you. I was skeptical too. But I feel perfectly comfortable with them and I have used ticketmania a couple of times now.

The only ticket you can't buy is an annual pass.

The Magic Kingdom Club was not killed because of a lack of members. It was discontinued because Disney decided they would rather charge people for individual memberships rather than offer them free through employers in Florida and California.

The revamped Disney Club barely lasted two years because people realized they were getting less through paid membership than they received when the membership was free!

This is true for Disneyland Paris. There is a minimum stock purchase required. I do not know all the details of the program. If you head over to the Disneyland Paris board and inquire there, someone will be able to give you the information.

Just wanted to let you know I have used ticketmania also, at least 3 times

and they are very helpful. They used to be on mousesavers.com which

is where i first found them.so have no fear about them.

I don't think that was why the DC was killed. I was a paid member and it had great discounts on hotels, etc. However, it disappeared when the Disney Visa became available. DV was hyped as offering a lot of the discounts that were available through DC, but I have found them to be much fewer and of less value. Plus, with the interest that you pay on that card, the $1 earned for every $100 spent is not a great deal.

I personally would love to see the Disney Club again and I'm sure many others on this board would.

The Magic Kingdom Club was free - there was never a fee. I don't know how widespread it was, but in Florida almost all employers had the memberships available for their employees. The perks included reduced admission tickets, special rates at the Disney resorts, merchandise discounts at the Village Marketplace and Disney Stores, etc.

Suddenly in late 2000, the club was discontinued in favor of the Disney Club. Aside from being charged a $39.95 fee to belong, the discounts were not as good as with the MKC and there were less discounts available. By the second year of its existence, most members did not renew and the club was discontinued.

The Disney Visa came into existence in 2003, I believe.
