Disney Souvenirs

When we bought our timeshare (Wyndham) we discussed what we would get for souvenirs. We settled on magnets and pick up a special one every time we vacation. They are the only thing (besides DD's Leap Frog alphabet toy) on the front of our fridge. Every time I open the fridge I see all the magnets from the various trips. It's inexpensive, takes up little room, and special for us!

I have bought DD a bunch of "presents" for this trip in hopes to not buy a bunch of souvenirs. I was able to get great deals at the Disneystore online and I bought books through amazon's buy 4-for-3 promotion.

Every vacation we take we try to get a Christmas ornament, a fridge magnet and a set of salt and pepper shakers. We love getting S&P shakers and everytime we use them we think of our trip. Our micky/minnie head ones are my favourites :lovestruc

I went to Disneyland in 2000 and bought a navy tshirt type nightshirt. Still have it, though it now has some holes from a bleach splash. It was a great souvineer.

From DisneyWorld last year my favorite thing is a clear acrylic double walled drinking glass with a lid and straw. It has a fabric badge inbetween the walls. It's my everyday water glass at home. Love it, though it was very pricey for what it is (I think it was $18 and there was a smaller one for $13 or $14). It's a great souvineer.

I don't have pictures. I'll have to try and do that later.
My best ones:
Disney backpack....I had our name sewn on it. (use it for EVERY field trip/vacation)
Disney rain coats (NOT those plastic ones, but the really nice fold into a bag kind) we all have one and when the kids grow it gets passed down. I have had mine over 8 years.
Disney tote bag (use it everyday for work)

The backpack I noticed you can now buy from the online Disney store.
Rain coats 2 yrs ago they had them only at AK. Before we had gotten them at the ESPN store in Downtown Disney.
The tote bag was bought in the giftshop. It was one of those spend $20 add another $10 for the bag. Reminds of the ones from L.L. Bean.

On our honeymoon 20 years ago we got a Mickey and Minnie etched glass picture frame, which sat on a our mantel all these years with our wedding picture in it, and a small rug in Morocco (is the rug merchant still there? He wasn't in 2005 when last we went) that has been at the foot of our bed for 20 years as well. Nothing fancy, but they mean a lot to us. Nothing really as meaningful in the 2 trips since then.

Speaking of suvi's, Does anyone else remember the rifles they sold in POC that actually shot cork balls using caps? No red tip or anything, shows you how old I am. When I was 8 my parents took us to Disney, and I wanted one in the worst way, but my dad didn't want to carry it around all day. He was certain they would sell them at the stand by the entrance, but at the very end of the day we got up there and found that they did not, so we went racing together back across the park and just made it to the store in Caribbean plaza to buy one. Don't know what happened to the rifle, but it's a great memory of me and my dad. This year I get to take him back to Disney for the first time since that trip. Can't wait.

We bought one of those Christmas count down wreaths and a couple of other ornaments....and we always get pins :cool1:...fridge magnets are always a cool item too! Enjoy!! :wizard:

We just got back and I got my usual antenna topper....Animal from the muppets this time, even tho I looked everywhere for a Figment.

I also saved and saved for a Dooney bag...they are gorgeous and I love it. Will probably buy one next trip, whenever that is!

We also went crazy for the Vinylmation collectibles...they are cute and clever! You don't know which of the series is in your box and they can't be returned. We started a collection of Vinylmation Cutesters and the minis on keychains-- however, they will trade w/you at the stores if you don't like, so this is similar to pin trading.

I have been to WDW 5 times as an adult and never bought myself anything. Always got souveniers for DS10 and DS6 but none for me. So this trip, I knew I wanted the Fit Flops with the Mickey head on them so I found a pair in brown at DTD and I loved them. :woohoo: I really wanted the black ones but they did not have them in my size. Since I did not want to miss out I bought a pair (w/ 20% off coupn I got at counter service restaurant the day before)We went to Typhoon Lagoon a few days later and they had the black ones in my size. So of course I had to have them.

Only other item purchased was a Mickey Antenna Topper. I got the Mickey Pirate. Too cute. Only when I got home, I realized that my car does not have an antenna (blonde moment :rotfl2:). So DH has been driving around with Mickey on his antenna. I do not think he has noticed yet or he just hasn't said anything.

BTW - I did not forget the kiddies. DS6 got a make your own light saber and DS10 got something from Stars Tours too.

The make MICKEY ones???? Adding that to my list for August!!! :woohoo:

I forgot to add that we have also done the Mr Potato Head stuff it all in a box a few times and my kids (and I!) love to change out the pieces. We haven't done that in a few years so I think that will be on the list for this time.

My favorite souvie from our first family trip was an ornament. It's a grapevine Mickey head and I love it!

DS went to WDW with my parents last fall and I insisted on him getting a silhouette (which I love!)

This time around, DD will be old enough to sit still, so I'm going to have one done of her by herself, then both of the kids together. We're also planning on picking up refillable mugs. That's it for this trip!

We always get my daughter a precious moments disney figurine. She has one for each trip. My son gets one of the small clocks in disney shapes. We also look for the crystal small glasses that have the characters on them and can get the kids names engraved. We use these on a daily basis at home. We look at each crystal place because they often have different ones. I think that we finally have them all but will keep looking in May to be sure! We also buy an ornament for each year with the date.

My kids (3 and 4) each have their own spending money from their own "money stash". They receive money for their birthdays, holidays, etc. I take a small amount of this with us and they can use it any way that they like (guided, of course, since they are so young). My daughter does very well with this and bought two princess barbies last time and is talking about buying Jessie items this year.

My favorite Disney souvenir is the silhouettes. We get them done of our son and daughter each time we go. We have then hanging on the wall in chronological order. It's fun to see the changes of our kids through the years. We also love to get an ornament for our Disney Christmas tree.
