I happened to be at Michael's yesterday, and they had a bunch of Disney souvenirs for $1-$3 that I had to pick up for my niece for our trip in April. Among other things, they had these GIANT ballpoint pens that will be perfect for character autographs in the parks. I mean... they're truly huge! I think I also picked up one of those paddle ball things, a pair of cute Minnie socks, a little lockable tin, some temporary princess tattoos, a glitter baton, and a jump rope. One for each day we're there, for less than $10 total!

I'm going to wrap them each in brown paper or a mailing envelope and address them to my niece, with Minnie as a return address, and see if I can find some sneaky ways to get them to her so she won't know they came from me. :)

I'm so excited, I can't wait! I hope she will be as excited as I am. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the heads up. I'm stocking up on Disney treats to make a baskets for DD and her best friend for our upcoming trip.

That's great, thank you for the heads up!

I also noticed that Kmart had disney apparel posted in their sunday ad today in the paper :)

When we go to Disneyworld, Tink comes to our room every night and delivers little gifts. Sometimes it's trinkets, a disney plush, lip gloss... even a new outfit for the next day. She leaves the gifts at the foot of their bed.

I bought the same Cars tattoos that they have at Michaels, at Disney 2 years ago.........I now have ton more then I used to. Z has 8 on his arm as a sleeve, lol!

Sounds great, however I'd rethink the giant pen idea. They may be fun & great while at home, but the characters may have a hard time using them because of the size. Sharpies are actually a better choice for the character signings.

I wouldn't normally mention it, but last time we were at DW, a "handler" actually mentioned it to be because my younger son "just had to have" one of those huge Disney pens for his autograph book and she said it might be difficult for some of the characters to give a "proper" autograph because of the large hands. Needless to say after that conversation, my son decided to go back to using the Sharpie marker I brought. He didn't want to upset any of his favorite friends with the wrong pen (his words!):)

Really? I'm pretty sure it was on the DIS that I read you SHOULD bring large pens, because the characters with mitts for hands couldn't grip a small pen.

:confused3

I thought the same thing when I bought them before - big pens, big hands, PERFECT! But that's not what I found out when we got there. They told me they are awkward for them to use because they are so long - it was not necessarily the width of the pen, it was the length that made it difficult for some of them to write their "character's" signature. That's why she told me the sharpies were better because they are thicker, but not gigantic long. Anyway, that's what I was told. :flower3:

It also doesn't mean it's not a cute pen - they are! My kids still used the pen, just not for autographs. I actually had found some cute notebooks along with all the other Disney stuff & during down time waiting in line at the parks, they would draw with the pen & notebook. But I certainly was glad I still had the sharpie markers in my bag.

I may have to swing by there too!! There's two Michael's stores in my town and I love them!! Also, Wal-Mart in my area is now having even more Disney things!! They have those cardboard boxes in the middle of the aisleways and they have coffee mugs, water bottles, tshirts, totes and movies!! I think there's even some other things but I'm not sure....

Well I just came back from Kmart and Walmart and my trip was a bust... off to Michael's this weekend hopefully.

Kmart did have a lot of super cute Mickey Mouse Clubhouse apparel (and Minnie stuff for the girls) but it was all size 5T and under. My son is a size 6 so I was so disappointed I couldn't find anything cute for him. Apparently older boys are too cool for Disney stuff? :( I did purchase a cute Mickey beach towel, and a cute little mickey easter basket/box type thing that I will put easter goodies in once we tell our son about our trip!

Also, Walmart didn't have the cardboard display either, I know exactly what you are talking about! Ours is being remodeled though so maybe I'll have to hit another one. Thanks to everyone for the heads up on disney merchandise!!

Dollar Tree has a ton of stuff too - I usually get some time fillers and found Disney crossword puzzles, etc. there. They also had the giant pens, but we don't use them for autographs. What I did was take sharpies and decorate them with Disney stickers for autographs.
