Disney shutting down Disney Channel overseas

I don’t think my kids have watched it once since Disney+ was released. I think our Disney Junior watching in particular was never live even before Disney+.

It's inevitable eventually in North America, but when? As linear cable goes away the problem becomes we'll all be spending more $$$ to watch it all ... Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, CBS All Access, HBOMax, Peacock etc ...

Even if you only go with a few services, we'll still get crushed buy our ISP costs ... the ISPs will catch up with the cord cutters

This will probably follow the same pattern of the AT&T break up with all the Baby Bells reconsolidating under Verizon and SBC

Actually four came back under ATT. Verizon got two. I guess SBC got one, but ironically ATT owns SBC now

Well, I can only see that happening here in the UK if all the shows (and their seasons) from the US were available, and new shows were released simultaneously with the US. So far, only the timeshift channel of Disney XD here has been axed, but normal Disney XD, Disney Junior and the main Disney Channel are still airing, so I doubt they'd be shutting them down yet, particularly since the UK is still a key market for Disney, and the main channel had been airing since 1995, 6 years after the original launch date was due.

ive seen a few people say they have disney or disney junior on in the background. Would be a cool option to have a "live" stream, that way you dont have to search for something to watch.

I think it will happen eventually, but it'll be a while - several years at least. Eventually it will all be streaming, but I'd bet Disney Channel proper will be one of the last ones hanging on. They will pare down and close XD and Junior first. I could also see, that while the actual linear viewing with timed broadcasts will go away, there will be a platform for streaming with ads that offers more limited programming - it's still needed for promotional needs and to reach more than just the subscribers.

Disney Jr. Or one of her favorite shows from disney Jr. (Playing on disney+) Is always on in the background at my house so personally for the time being I'm glad it is still around.

It is even helping with language development as one day she randomly started saying Bob. Now we don't know any Bob's- my husband is Rob but obviously she only hears daddy or I call him babe.
She picked it up from the puppy dog pals show bc the dogs owner is named Bob 🤣

Puppy Dog Pals, T.O.T.S and Vampirina are huge with my 3 Y/O grand daughter. She is staying with us currently for her safety (my son is a single dad and works in the food industry)

It's Disney Jr for most of the day. When she isn't into whats on D Jr, it's Disney+.

My grand kids love Puppy Dog Pals, Tots and the Mickey cartoons. It is always on at our house. They like the toy commercials too.
