Gashapon Kiosk Now Open in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion Featuring One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, Kirby, and More
Back in June, we brought you news that construction had begun in the Japan Pavilion for a new Gashapon kiosk. While visiting EPCOT today, we noticed that the kiosk is now open! Here’s a closer look!
Gashapon Kiosk in EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion
For those unfamiliar with Gashapon, it is a Japanese capsule toy. Gashapon originated in the 1960s and is popular in Japan. The word Gashapon, a Bandai trademark, is onomatopoeic from two sounds,
gasha (or gacha) for the hand-cranking action of a toy-vending machine, and
pon for the toy capsule landing in the collection tray.
The new kiosks retain that hand-cranking action, but the transaction is taken via a touchscreen and a card. The kiosk can be found next to the Garden House, and across from the Mitsukoshi Department Store. Here’s a closer look at what you can find!
To begin, head to the touchscreen and choose the toy capsule theme. Prices range from $9.00 to $15.00, and there are a variety of themes to choose from. Each payment entitles you to one capsule, which is dispersed at random after you crank the machine. Once you complete your payment, you turn the handle to dispense the toy.
