Disney Set To Announce Ambitious Star Wars Theme Park

Thanks for an entertaining discussion! Just wondering: does the $1B include the fabled third (and last) monorail loop? This was a rumor from my CP days (loong time ago in a far different Disney universe). As a diehard Disney fan-gotta say USF had it all over Disney 13 years ago-and can not wait to see the new WWoHP this summer. So how come USF can have 2! major new areas come to completion in 7 years yet Disney takes forever to get (relatively) minor stuff done? (Mine train had beautiful theming but was seriously underwhelming for the hype around it) Someone at disney needs to get some brass ones and build something to actually live up to the hype and continue to rest on laurels (which are decaying away). Was sad to see how much Epcot had declined our last trip (granted our trips have been pretty spread out).
And regarding the employment pool-the college program is larger than ever-cheap wages, short term employees (charge large amount for housing) and continually refreshed pool of applicants...

No a monorail expansion will never happen it would cost over a billion to expand it. Disney isn't willing to spend that money for it right now. Disney like to spread their expansions out over multiple fiscal years so it's included in multiple budgets.

Monorails don't make money...they cost it. Not gonna work.

As far as college program goes...it is wahat it is...and that is not a backbone of a labor force.
It's a billionaire dollar operation...and many things are rampant over at Vista....ummm...huh... "Stay"...
But "maturity" isn't one of them

Because their neighbor down the road is gaining attendance at a much faster rate. How long before guests decide "there really isn't much to do at DHS, lets spend a day (or another day) at Universal instead"?

This is how I am. I went last year for the first time in a decade. Really loved TOT, Aerosmith Coaster, Toy Story, Muppets, and Star Tours. And that was all there was to do (I really only care about rides). So I knocked those out in about 4 hours and then went to the AK which was also really fun but also had about 5 attractions that were worth going for - Everest, Dinosaur, Tough to be a Bug, the Safari, and Rapids.

But if I went back to Orlando, I'd rather go to Universal now and check out those parks over going back to those two parks again. They would need to build new rides for me to go back there again anytime before 5-10 years when I'd get the itch to ride those 10 rides again. If Avatar opens in 2017 and if it does have 2 or more major rides, that would be enough to get me to visit.

Interesting, and not what I was expecting. RSRs at DCA is crucial in drawing people into that part of the park and then people explore and find the other attractions. In the same way I was expecting the Pixar land to have a draw like that. I wonder how they're going to spend the money if not like that. The entire Hong Kong Toy Story Land with which many rides are said to be cloned, was built within one 500 million dollar budget. I wonder how they're going to blow it.

Doesn't Cars Land in DCA only have 2 rides? The RSR E-ticket ride and the kiddie ride where the cars go in circles? The tire ride is closed down. I've never been to DCA but I always hear how Cars Land was this awesome thing, it sounds like it was just 1 awesome ride. Better than nothing but still not that much.

Luigi's Flying Tires is open until the 16th. Then it's being reworked into a new ride. Yeah, only 1 of the rides is "awesome" but the area itself if spectacular to look at.

And a new third ride is coming in a year. I have never been but I definitely want to see it.

As the others have said, it had three (one amazing and two average) with one now closing. A cool looking replacement is on the way.

The theming and E-Ticket are the main draws and they work phenomenally well. The reason I was surprised is they're deviating from their past MO. Additionally Jim Hill had said at one point that their would be either a dark ride or RSRs. It appears they've sacked that option.

Still I'm holding out...
