Hello! After seeing it on here, my DH and I decided to open an acct and start saving for our Disney trip. We are just putting money in this and not adding gift cards to it. I thought I researched it enough but now I see very negative reviews on it. I was wondering if others could give me their good, bad and ugly thoughts. Or if there is a definitive thread that I could be led to.
TIA

I use it and I like it. When I first started it I only put so much in and then withdrew it so I could see if I had any trouble getting my money back. I had no problem. It's a better way for me to save and not pull it out "as easily" as I would my regular bank account. However with everything though there are those bad experiences and if I were to have an issue it would probably be the last time I used it.

I guess I look at it like this - if I didn't buy things because of every bad review I read I wouldn't buy anything. There are always good and bad to things and everyone has their opinions. This one is just mine.

I use it with no issues. I deposit my GCs into it to pay for my trip. Just keep the old card until you use the balance in the DVA. Also pay attention when adding funds to make sure your funds are added. Some have added a GC only to not see it credit and the GC balance go to Zero.

We have used it with no problems and have already cycled through the maximum amount and received our $500 in Disney gift cards once. Working on round two :rolleyes1 We keep all our gift cards and I write the amount on each one and the date added to the DVA.

Do you have to add to it on a regular basis? And do you have to deposit through your bank or can you just add gift cards? I like to pay my vacations with only gift cards because I always get them through the grocery store and use the free gas I get. It seems like whenever we plan a Disney trip I can usually get free gas for several fill ups.

I think we initially funded the first account with $10 using a credit card. Since then, it was all gift cards added to it as we put away and saved for the trips. We keep adding gift cards to it regularly and then use it to pay off our annual dues, annual passes, cruises and Adventures by Disney trips.

Great! Sounds like a good way to save a little and get an little bit more for the trip. Although I think we will only need to put in about $3000 for our upcoming trip but heck that would mean an additional $60 in gift cards. Every little bit helps.

I do not use it because my Disney trips have become fewer and farther between. I put my Disney savings into an account (in this case cash in my house in an undisclosed location) This allows me to have cash available for any emergency involving my bank ATM and still save for Disney. What if Disney no longer becomes a viable ption due to another terrorist attack or economic downturn? Hubby thinks it's brilliant since savings account rates are .1 % at the moment.

I set up the recurring payments when I first set my account up (scheduled it to start in the future) then I cancelled that recurring payment and just put my first gift card in after opening it a month ago. I'm intending on only putting my gift cards in it

I have used it by adding gift cards and regular auto-payments from my checking account. It is easy to use and kind of fun to see your balance grow.
However, I finally stopped using my DVA after so many other people were having big issues. Like the website being down for a week and no communication from Disney. Or money disappearing and having to fight to have it returned. Just wasn't worth the small reward for me.

So if I opened my account in Jan and just put the $10 in it. If I don't add anything until right before I need to use it and it's after 120 days will I still qualify for the $20 for every $1000 spent?

thinking this way I don't have to worry about any money going missing from my account
