Disney Rumor Alert!

I like the idea of Australia. But also, Russia would have a lot more cultural variety, I guess (not that Australia does not have variety).

I don't like that they're asking which country would be OK to lose. None of them!

I have no real preference for what country goes in but a new one would be nice. I did think however that the country put up lots of the money for something like this and in the case of Greece I can;t see them spending any money on this considering there current financial situation.

Greece would be fiscally irresponsible in fronting any money for an endeavor such as this. I'm not sure that Russia would be sound in coming up with funds either. Based purely on willingness to pay, India would probably be a good choice or Jordan.

How about New Jersey? :rotfl2: We're always treated like a third world country by the rest of the U.S., so why not? :thumbsup2

If a Russian can own the NJ Nets (and Jersey already has "Jersey week at Disney"), then Russia must have money somewhere to finance the pavilion at EPCOT.

A couple of oligarchs can get together and finance the pavilion. Better still, a couple oligarchs can get together, buy Greece, and then finance both a Greek and a Russian pavilion.

Thinking in a totally DIS DATW scenario I think Russia would fit in well... We don't have a good vodka drink on the list yet ;)

The one pavilion I would eliminate (only if I had to) would be Italy. There isn't much to see there.

My Russian born daughter would love a Russian pavilion. I think a South American one would be more appropriate though. Chile, Argentina, or Brazil would get my vote.

Italy :(
They such just make improvments, I love the real Italy!
It would be cool if they could make venice with gondala rides....;)

It would be nice to add a South American country like Peru...
OR
I would love to see Egypt!! So much to do with that, although there already is the Mexican pyramid. Still I think they could think of something amazing!

This got me thinking to how much better they could make Italy. God, they could make it beautiful. A gondala ride threw Venice, glass blowing,....they need to do some updating there!

Good topic! :thumbsup2

I agree with the majority and think Russia would be a culturally diverse country that we haven't explored in World Showcase.

The other thing to think about is where we would be allowed to bring residents over to be cast members. I think we would have a good enough relationship to bring Russians over, but I'm not immigration!

They wouldn't even have to come from Russia. Brighton Beach has enough Russians to staff a pavilion for the rest of the century.

Greece, Russia, Ireland, or Australlia would all be ones I'd like to see. The outpost could go, it seems to take up a lot of space without being anything. I really don't know if I'd want to see any of the actual countries to go.

Go for Australia so my 6 year old daughter has somewhere to work when she comes to Disney on the college program:thumbsup2

Their history is a truely tragic one, and as an American visiting I was very affected by the realities of war. We are lucky in America that there has never been a devestating war on our soil.

You must not be from the south and have evidently forgotten the little thing we like to call the War of Northern Aggression where all them Yankees burned down or otherwise devestated so much of the South. ;) Big difference being the Civil War only affected 1/4 of modern America and it was 150 years ago and we've since rebuilt most of that (though any drive through the back roads of Georgia, the Carolinas, Alabama, or Mississippi may convince you otherwise).

If they go with India they have the automatic cost saving measure that all CM name tags can say "Kevin" or "Steve" since invariably that's who I talk to when on the phone to customer service for any company I try to work with... he sounds like Ranjit, but he says his name is Kevin, so... :lmao:

I would love Russia. I love Russian architecture and history, so this would be just fantastic.

India would be cool, I'm sure, though I don't eat Indian food or care much for anything else Indian - just not my style.

Greece would be great if they had any money.

Egypt would also be very cool.

Brazil or Argentina would be nice to have some So. Am. representation. (They could recreate Buenos Aires so that you could visit Paris in the France Pavillion and the "Little Paris" in the Argentina Pavillion.) And you could have a Churrascaria for the restaurant - mmmm, roasted meat on a sword!

A dark horse country would be Turkey - tons of history and culinary variation, the intersection of Eastern and Western culture, home of Troy, the Ottoman empire, etc. and they have been much more open to the west than other "middle eastern" countries in recent years.

I remember seeing a few years back concept art from Disney Imagineers of an Australian pavillion which was considered for World Showcase. Obviously, it never made it, but the drawings and plans are out there and currently shelved in Burbank, CA.

If I remember correctly, a replica Sydney Oprah House (smaller version) was hanging out over the World Showcase lagoon. I'm going to see if I can find the concept art and post it.
