Disney Room Charge

It's been well established that the Dining Plan at DL is not like the one at WDW.

What about ROOM CHARGES. Is DL like WDW where we can charge just about anything ( snacks, meals, souvenirs ) to our rooms? ( obviously assuming we're at a DL hotel ).

We will likely be staying at the Grand Californian Villas and would like to be able to just charge to our rooms and settle after.

Yes, the Key to the Magic Cards issued by the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort are very similar to their counterparts, the Key to the World Cards issued at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Both cards will allow you access to your Hotel Room, as well as charging priviliges at many Disney-owned and operated locations thorughout the Disneyland Resort.

Unlike their Florida-Site counterparts, Key to the Magic Cards are unabled to have Disneyland Resort Theme Park tickets embedded on them at this time. In addition, acceptance of the Key to the Magic Card amongst Third-Party Operating Participants (such as those in the Downtown Disney District) is limited.

This last part is fine, we will likely be pre-ordering our passes anyway as we'll be going down on our DVC ( at the Villas ) provided the villas are not all booked up.

Yes you can charge *most* everything to the room with the "key to the magic" (not "to the world"). They'll let you know when you can't.
