Disney Rewards Visa Redemption Card exclusions?

My family hasn't been on any Disney vacations since 2017, so I've had a long time to build up our rewards through our Disney Visa, and we have a pretty large amount saved up. We're planning to go to Disney World for fall break 2023. Up until now, the plan has been to get a room and tickets through Costco, and then just use the rewards redemption card for all our dining, genie +, shopping, etc. Then I saw on another thread that the Yak and Yeti, being not owned by Disney, does not accept rewards redemption cards as payment. That got the wheels turning; are we making a false assumption here that we'll be able to do most of our shopping and eating on the redemption card? Are there a lot of places at Disney World that won't take the card as a method of payment? Has anyone run into problems at various places?

On the Disney Visa website there's a list of who at Walt Disney World will accept the rewards redemption card, and it seems exhaustive. But I worry about its accuracy because, for example, at Animal Kingdom it says the rewards card is accepted everywhere credit cards are accepted, and if Yak and Yeti doesn't take the redemption card, we know that isn't the case.

Anyway, I'd appreciate any feedback from anyone else's experiences. Thanks for reading :)

There are really only a handful of locations that don't take it. But it's not going to be enough to spoil your plan. The bigger issue, in my opinion, is that having one gift card with that much money on it is risky.

Do you have the premier or the regular card?

you can use the rewards card to pay for mobile ordering. Save the card # and PIN to the notes in our phone so it's easy to copy and paste it into your mobile order. Mobile orders are charged to your credit card.

On our past trip, we started using the Disney rewards card for dining purchases and then decided it would be easier to just pay at the front desk in a large chunk. We used our magicbands for purchases/dining and then went to the front desk one morning and presented the Disney rewards card (and a few small Disney gift cards) to pay down the balance charged to the room. We just used our linked Disney Visa to pay for genie+ purchases each morning.

Thank you for your responses. We have the Premier card. The problem with going the front desk folio paydown route is we were looking at booking the Swan, which means we can't use magic bands to charge back to the room (and I DO realize nothing on the Swan/Dolphin property will be eligible for the Rewards Redemption card, we had already taken that into consideration). I haven't booked yet, mostly because we're still talking through how we'll handle our rewards card, so I'm not locked in yet. We liked the idea of prepaying for hotel/tickets and then not worrying about budgets and such for spending through the week, since we'll have the card.

You can use the rewards dollars as an airfare credit with the premier card. I'd do that if you are flying.

You can use them at most Disney owned restaurants and some non-Disney owned ones too (though those are rare)
Yak & Yeti is Landrys, I think?

If they take a magic band for payment, then I think they will take the Disney rewards card.

You can use them to buy your WDW tickets too. Unless you're doing a package with Swan?
