Do any of you have this card, and if so, do you like/recommend it? MM is in need of some credit card-age. :rolleyes1

I do! Granted, I've never had another credit card (I've been considering getting a United Mileage Plus card, but with how stingy they're being with miles, I don't think it's worth it), but I think it has some great benefits. I like walking into a store and having my DVC member card, my AP and my Disney Visa and asking which gets the best discounts, so you're really covered on all bases. Plus, you'd be surprised how quickly you rack up the Disney Dollars. It's not enough to last you a whole vacation, but you definitely get a nice splurge when you go down there :).

I have the card as well. Besides the "magical rewards points," you can also get a complimentary photo at Epcot's Innoventions taken (and DCA too), which is a perk only for cardmembers.

DH and I both have one. So we get TWO photos at EPCOT!

I have read a lot of horror stories, but we have never had a problem. I will say the APR on my card is high. They cranked it up last year before all the rules changes went into effect. Now, prior to that they used to send me those checks with fixed APR of like 3%, so those were AWESOME. Now they have decided not to send those checks anymore, and the last batch I got had different rules so they wouldn't have been that great anyway.

DH's APR is lower than mine, but we still try not to carry a balance. You also have to watch/plan out the rewards because they are squirrelly about redemption. You have to have AT LEAST 20 reward dollars to get a rewards card, and if your reward card expires you have to have AT LEAST 20 reward dollars to get a new one. It's just inconvenient. I had points in my account, but I couldn't get them on a card because I didn't have 20. DH had a valid card, but I can't put my points on his card. They also don't add the reward dollars in real time. They add them at the end of your billing cycle.

I have this card as well. I mainly use it for booking Disney trips. You get 6 months interest free financing on vacation packages.

We really like it mostly because we got a deal to get 200 Disney Dream Dollars for signing up. Between our two credit cards and my debit card, we have 268 dollars to put towards our trip payment. Its really the only reason we did it was for those points. I also primarily use a debit card so although you only get .5 points for every $100 spent, it really added up for us. I have not used any of the redemption cards yet and I know that you can't access them until the charges have all been put through at the end of the month. Then it takes a bit of time to get them sent to you. Right now, I think that whatever we have saved up, we will wait until we get the parks to have put on the card.

It is a cute card to have but IMO not a great card to have. They are really stingy when it comes to apr and credit limits. I wanted to use this as our main card for business so that I could get the points for Disney. However it didnt turn out to be that way. My other cards carry limits that I can buy truck loads of hot tubs, ths one will not let me. Needless to say we use this card very little. I get maybe 40 points a year.

However Nemo is really cute. :)

I love mine. I got the 200 points right away for signing up and have probably added another 50 to it with purchases so far. I love using it while at the parks to get the 10% discount on everything you buy. It really helped. I got a bit limit when I joined and they've increased it twice already in the past 9 months. Haven't had any issues with them at all. Probably use that card more than any others now.

True that! The end of my billing cycle is the 3rd, so I just use that as an excuse to buy all my Christmas presents early...then I reap the benefits when I make it down there for the holidays.

Also, Pgh, you can call and ask for it to say DVC member. They did that so you don't have to carry so many cards around :).

Just for kicks I called them and asked them to lower my purchase APR. The delightful little Indian man said absolutely not.

One thing I've learned is that they're not a very forgiving credit card company. They won't budge on limits, APR's, removing fees, etc. Oddly enough, my Chase Amazon card is better, than my Chase Disney.

BUT.....biggest bonus with Disney card? Free Stroller rental at Disney parks!!! *rolls eyes*

Wait, are you serious about the stroller rental?

Bah Humbug... we do not get this card in Canada -- how how we have been wishing one day we will get it or something similar to.

Ok, just to rant for a sec.......My main cc is a citibank card which also has a rewards system. I usually end up turning them in for gift cards that I COULD use. (nothing real exciting) So I applied for the disney visa as we travel there about 4 times a year. Those kind of rewards would be SUPER. While being approved, I booked my next trip and tix to MVMCP......total $156.00! I received and activated the card on Wednesday, went to walmart this a.m. and my card was denied! ($496.00) :confused3

Came home and called them to which their answer was "sorry, we cleared it up now, are you still at walmart?" NOOOO, I was so embarassed, I used my citi bank and hightailed it out of there!!!!

Wrote an email to customer service who replied with "cuz there was a Change in usage pattern, we deny it for fraud alerts. WHAAATTTT, I just got the card, how in the heck do you know my usage patterns? They wrote back again that because my first transaction was only $150.00, they denied the next one because it was such a large amount. I could POSSIBLY avoid this by calling or writing to them to let them know when I would be making a large purchase. Yeah, like that's gonna happen! SO between the embarassment of my card being denied in the middle of walmart, the loss of 5 reward points and their crazy "fraud alerts" I'm not sure this card is a good idea. JMHO! Thanks for letting me get that off my chest!;)

I'd have to double check, but yes you use to get one free stroller rental during your trip at DL, which I think was like worth $20 dollars. I thought they still had that offer, but they might only give you a discount now. You also get 10% off many places in DTD at both parks with the Disneycard.

Since I'm the only one who has the card between Steven and I, we use my card only for our trips so almost every meal and shopping spree we get 10% off of which really helps after a while.

I've had the card for years now and will *FINALLY* be cashing in a lot of rewards dollars soon. I got the card when the first offered it so mine says "Charter Cardmember" - I also have the sparkly red one which frequently gets me complements, although they do have other designs.
I think you basically get 1 Disney Dollar per $100 spent. You occasionally get other offers (I got one for 3X rewards credit for every dollar over $500 you spend per month till the end of the year). Rewards points do eventually expire, but you can transfer them to a rewards card before they expire then they last until that card expires (I think it's valid for 2yrs).

I try to pay off my card every month, so I can't really speak about those kinds of fees, which if you're going to carry a balance, that should be more of a concern than the rewards.

Hope this info helps!

We have one too and use it just for big purchases so we can get the points for Disney. I always make a joke when paying for those big things that I am just adding to the "Disney Fund" for the kids.

You just have to remember to "order" your rewards card early enough for it to arrive before your trip :thumbsup2 (Learned that one the hard way!)

We use their online system for everything and have yet to have any issues with payments being made and received.

Oh, and here's an LGBT plus, they didn't skip a beat when I called to tell them that my partner and I got married and have a "new" hyphenated name. The did the entire name change with me over the phone. That's a LOT more than I can say for my own personal bank here in town! (I had to provide the marriage certificate, which I don't mind doing, but I am just saying!)
