Disney Reward Points to pay for Cruise balance?

Can I use my Disney reward points/dollars to pay off my balance at the end of the cruise? I used it last time at Disney World and paid for everything with my rewards card (dinners, souvenirs etc...)...but was wondering if I can use it on the cruise at the end?

You need to convert the points into dollars (rewards card). Then you can put it on your onboard account.

Ok great, so just redeem and bring it to Reception area, all my expenditures will go towards the balance of the card?

Get the rewards card (dollars) from VISA. Then go to Guest Services once onboard to apply it to your onboard account (just like a gift card). That give you a positive balance on your account.

All charges onboard are placed on your onboard account. Those are negative charges, and will bring your positive balance down.

If you don't use all your rewards dollars, they will be reapplied to your rewards card at the end of the cruise, so keep it on hand.

I would suggest adding your Rewards Card dollars closer to the beginning of your cruise than the end. DCL will automatically charge your credit card when your onboard account balance reaches a certain limit (amount depends on length of cruise). You wouldn't want to reach, lets say $400 in onboard charges and have them automatically charge your credit card when you wanted to use your rewards dollars...so add your rewards early in the cruise so that gets used up. Thank of it as a declining balance.

If you have a new rewards card (they used to expire but I am not sure they do anymore), make sure you have "activated" it so that when you go stand in line for 30 minutes to use it to pay your balance the last night of your cruise, you are not told that the card is "rejected." Yes, happened to me.
