Has anyone ever used Disney Reward Dollars to settle your shipboard account on the Disney cruise? I notice there is no place on the "payment authorization" form for this but the Disney Visa literature sounds as if you can use it for your shipboard account. Anyone done this?

I haven't done it yet, but I'm told that you just have to go to Guest Services early in the cruise and use the rewards card to put a credit into your account. I've also been told that once you transfer some of the reward dollars, you can't return any unused amounts. So only tranfer what you will actually use during the cruise.

We used ours in July. I just went to Guest Service during the day (I think on the last day) and asked them to use the rewards card before charging the visa card. Not a problem.

Just used it last week with absolutely no problem. Went to Guest Services the day before we got off to take care of the tips, and asked them to max the card out and leave everything else on the Visa. Easy!

Hi All
I need to tag on to this post - I just received my Disney VISA for the main purpose of get the reward dollars -
Do I need to "cash out" my rewards onto a card then take the card on the cruise - or is there a way for DCL to pull from my Disney VISA (that will be my shipboard card as I'm already planning to rebook - don't tell DH :) )
Lil

You need to ask for the rewards card prior to going, I forget how many weeks they say to do it. They mail you the card and you bring it with you on the cruise.

You will need to apply what Disney Reward Dollars you want to a special reward dollars card about a month before your cruise. You can do this on the Disney Visa website, it's quite easy to do, then once you get on the ship, like others have said, take that card to Guest Services on deck 3 and they can apply those reward dollars to your ship board account. I did this for our recent cruise, we had enough reward dollars on our card to pay for all our tips, and have a little extra for ourselves!!!

Thanks everyone! You've put my mind at ease! We cruise in 4 days! :D

If you're in a hurry, you can pay $10 and they will expedite your rewards card! We booked our cruise last minute and wanted to use our points but only had 2wks so I called and I had it in about 3 days!

If you are going to be at WDW or passing by, you can pick up a blank rewards card from guest relations at DD. Then call 800-300-8575 and they will load the card and activate it for you.

I will definitely bring my Disney Rewards Card on my upcoming cruise! So much fun to use it for those great fruity, tropical drinks, lol.

I always stop by guest services on the 1st day before it gets busy and add it to my account.

FYI, you can also apply Disney Rewards dollars to your cruise balance. I ordered my card and when received immediately applied the entire amount on the card to my cruise balance. Shortly before my 90 day mark, when the remainder of the cruise balance is due, I plan to have any additional reward dollars earned added to my card and apply those to the cruise balance as well.

I just saw a post where you can use your rewards from the Disney Visa to pay the balance on your cruise.... Does this apply only if you've booked your trip through Disney? We booked through Dreams Unlimited for our April cruise. The balance is due in Feb. I would LOVE to use my points if thats allowed!!! [/COLOR]

All - I just found this from another thread - I thought I read most of the important facts about the Disney VISA, but I missed this one - apparently the rewards you earn are only good for 5 years (Like they will last that long in my account LOL) - But I thought I would post this onto this thread just in case someone is really trying to save those points!

Disney Visa Rewards Expire!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but Disney Rewards dollars for most of us will expire as of 12/04. If your rewards card has 12/2004 on it, all the reward dollars you've transferred are only good until December 31. You have to use them or you'll lose them!

The reward dollars are good for 5 years ONLY if you don't transfer them to the card, once they're on the card, they expire with the card.

This is the full text from the 'help' part of the website:
----------------------------------
Reward Dollars Expiration
Your Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM are good for a full five years (60 billing cycles) from the time they're earned, while included in your Program Rewards Balance. There are no block-out dates. Please refer to the Guide to the Disney RewardsSM Program for complete program details, including Terms and Conditions.

Once reward dollars are transferred to your Disney RewardsSM Card, the reward dollars are available for redemption until the expiration date on the rewards card. Rewards cards, and the reward dollars remaining on them, expire December 31st of the year after the year when the card was first ordered. For example:

A card ordered October 1, 2003, will expire on December 2004.
A card ordered January 1, 2004, will expire on December 2005.
When the card expires, any remaining reward dollars on the card will be forfeited. You will then need to request a new card. Replacement cards are not automatically sent to you.

Once reward dollars have been transferred to a rewards card, you cannot transfer them back into your Program Rewards Balance. Therefore, we recommend that you transfer only the number of reward dollars you plan to redeem prior to the expiration date of the rewards card.

Looks like I'll be heading to the Disney Store tonight to buy Disney dollars or a park hopper.

We also used Dreams Unlimited, and had to make the payment through them (not direct with DCL). I couldn't use the Rewards Card for DU's online payment option, because the choices there are just Visa, MasterCard, etc.; however, I e-mailed our agent (Merrie) and she took care of it, no problem. I'm sure you could also use the DU phone number to make the payment, but I was taking care of this over the weekend and they were closed. The Rewards Card has a 16-digit number, and an extra 3-digit verification number on the back, just like a credit card.
