Disney Reward Dollars used by others

I was wondering if the Disney Reward dollars can be used by other people other than the cardholder.

A friend of ours has about $300 of disney dollars from using their Disney visa. They don't believe they will be returning to Disney and want to sell us the $300 for $150. This would be a win win for both of us except I don't know if we are allowed to use the reward card they would order. Are these card linked directly to a person and therefore I couldn't use them on say paying down our upcoming Disney cruise?

I dont want to do anything illegal, just want to know if this is possible. I believe I have used my reward cards to pay down my parent's cruise with different last name, so I am thinking I can apply these reward dollars to our cruise but I thought I would ask the experts.

Anyone know? Thanks

I have never been asked for ID when using my Disney VISA Rewards card, they just swipe it & hand it back. I've given it to my son to go grab snacks & he didn't have any issues with it either.

There is no name on the rewards card...just a number. I have never shown any kind of ID or had to show my Disney Visa to use the rewards card. What a great deal and enjoy it!

I don't know if it is against any rules... but I have never been asked for an ID either!

if you are really worried about this, you can have the owner use their points to buy a Disney gift card and then just use the gift card which would be linked to no one.

I would make sure that the owners know that their points can be used for other things besides WDW trips. They can be used to buy things from the Disney store and movie tickets. They also don't expire for several years. Seems liked you lucked into one heck of a deal!:thumbsup2

ETA, if you are just wanting to pay down a balance (especially if it is done online), you just enter the rewards card number in as if it was a gift card. No billing address/name would be needed for that.

Yes! My friend's mom surprised me with her rewards on our last trip...$250! I had no problems using it at all. :wizard:

they can use the rewards to buy a Disney gift card.... it never expires. then if they want to use it down the road, all the money is loaded on the card. It doesn't help you, but maybe just tell them that. it's alot of money to basically "give away".... :confused3 then if they still want to sell it, I'd do it. (and buy a Disney gift card with the points so you know you have them and all is well)

I *ahem* forgot all about my card one trip until I was, literally, at the gate to leave the Orlando airport. My mom was going down about 3 months later, so I gave ehr the card and my shopping list. She, and even my niece, had no problems using the card.

Thanks everyone for the great idea about a gift card.

I have told them that they can use it at the Disney store, but they are sure they don't want to do anything else Disney. They also want to do this for us because last year when they were planning a trip I asked them if they had a Disney Visa and they said yes, but didn't realize they were earning rewards. They had over $900 in Disney rewards and they absolutely wouldn't have used them if I hadn't asked them. Plus we rented them some DVC points and they were able to stay at Beach Club and have a wonderful once in a lifetime trip last year. But they say they don't want to go back... Can you imagine! :scared1: But they didn't stop using their Disney Visa Card so they offered us this deal. I think it is a win win for all of us and I am thrilled they thought of it!:woohoo:

I will most likely be using it to pay on the cruise. Love putting those cards on our account on the ship and then not having to feel like I am spending too much!

My son is at Disney World right now and I gave him my Disney Rewards card to take with him. He's been there since Monday and hasn't mentioned any problems using it.
