Hi, could anyone tell me the answer to the following?

If I am not staying in a Disney hotel or property can I still use the Hotel restaurants and bars? For instance I would love to eat at the California Grill but am not sure I can because I'm staying in a privately rented villa.

Also, I'm back at the 'World in Feb 09 and I want to eat at the SCI-FI DINE IN at Hollywood studios and was wondering if anyone knows if would need a reservation or could get a "walk up"? I'll be at the studios before Presidents day if that helps?

Hope these questions makes sense and thanks for any help.

You can definitely dine at the WDW Resort restaurants. California Grill is usually in high demand, so make sure to make a reservation. If you want your dining time to coincide with the fireworks at MK, you absolutely need to make reservations. You can call 407-939-3463 (407-WDW-DINE) to make reservations. You can make reservations for most WDW restaurants 180 days in advance. Some restaurants are popular enough that it's important to call at the 180 day mark.

Early February is typically a slower time at WDW. You should be able to do a walk up with Sci-Fi. If you know you'll be a HS on a particular day, I would make a reservation just to be safe.

The only restrictions on the Restaurants are the ones inside the Parks-you must have a valid park pass even if you are only going in to eat.For Cali Grill you will need to leave a CC number to reserve it,they don't charge it but will do if you don't turn up.We're booked in next week & I'm hoping to do a review so will let you know how it goes. If you know what day you are going to HS then just make an ADR for Sci-Fi just to be on the safe side.

You are more than Welcome to eat at any Disney restaurant, whether you are an onsite guest or not. It is part of the magic.
You can also make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADR's) well in advance.
The usual window is 180 days in advance. They are doing a computer upgrade right now and that window is shortened. As an offsite guest the only difference is you need to call each day for the most popular restaurants, or wait until after 180 days in advance from your checkout and call for all restaurant ADR's
Enjoy
