Hi everyone! Can anyone tell me when Disney starts advertising for their September resort specials? I already have the dates that we are to go, but I do not want to jump the gun by booking too early. However, I would like to book as soon as possible.

Thank you! :flower:

you can book your room now and if you are eligible for a discount, the cheaper rate will be applied, and your money refunded if yiu have already paid. If you have not paid the full amount, it will be adjusted, showing the lower rate/balance! :cheer2:

As scanmom said, you can book your room now and get the rate changed if and when a discount comes available. Ask for the AAA rate (which is already out) -- the AAA rate is often 15%-20% off. You will have to pay one night of the hotel at the time that you book. If a better rate becomes available, then you can call to get the rate changed.

I already have a room booked for Oct. What are these Disney resort specials? Where can I find out about them? :confused3

AAA rate is usually 15-20% off full price and usually more than pays for the AAA membership purchase. I recently saved $175 off 7 nights at a moderate with the AAA rate.

The Annual Pass rate is approx. 40% off full price. There hasn't been as much availability this year, but combined with other Annual Pass savings like Disney Dining Experience card and savings at World of Disney, it may pay for one adult to get an AP even if you only plan to go once during the year.

Disney also does some marketing offering email pins and postcard pins (special targeted discounts) to certain people.

And in the past, there have been some general public codes for room-only discounts but have not been any lately and seems like WDW is filling rooms just fine without them right now, so you aren't likely to see any soon.

At a minimum, call to see if you can get your reservation changed to the AAA rate. You don't have to have a AAA membership at the time you book, just have to have it when you check in.

Do you have to have the AP in hand when you book, if there is an AP rate being offered for the resort? Or do you just need to have it when you check in?

Also, can you use both AAA and AP discounts together on the same room - that is assuming the AP rate is being offered?

No, you don't have to have the AP in hand when you book the room, just when you check in. However, the number of rooms available at the AP rate so far this year has been extremely limited and the rooms book fast when the rates are released -- it seems like this last batch was pretty much booked up in 1-2 days!

No, you can't stack the AAA and AP discounts in order to use both.

Basically, book the room at the AAA rate and then you may want to try to get the AP rate (if it makes sense for you to do so based on the extra cost of the Annual Pass). Many people book the room they can afford with the AAA rate and then upgrade to a higher-level resort if they can get the AP rate -- say book a Moderate and then change to a Delux for a similar cost to the original booking for the Moderate.

I just wanted to add that the discounts are not automatically applied to an existing ressie, you have to call and ask if it's available for your dates/resort and have them apply it for you.
