We are thinking of booking a three night cruise in early December as a quick getaway (DH has little vacation time) and a chance to see some Disney Christmas decorations - which we have never done in 10 years of WDW travel. (I have already requested a quote from DU.)

We would like to fly into MCO the morning before the cruise and spend that pre-cruise day at the MK - again - to enjoy the Christmas decorations at our favorite park.

Are any of the MK resorts available for precruise nights at any kind of discount? We wouldn't want to waste time traveling back and forth from a resort that wasn't near the MK. (We've stayed at WL before, but never at the Poly or GF.) However, the budget isn't unlimited. In order to stay at one of these deluxes for just one night - it would need to be discounted.

Thanks!

The fact that you are going to spend lots of $$ on a 3 day cruise will not in itself get you a discount at any Disney Resort. You would be at the mercy of whatever rates are prevailing at that time of year at The World.

I could have sworn that I read on here that there was a $99 rate for the Swan for pre or after cruise nights? Was I imagining things? ( Which is possible, as I spend entirely too much time on these boards!) ;) Does anyone else remember reading that or am I going nuts?

Yes. That is what we did before. I just wondered if something similar still exists. I was hoping for a MK resort. I'll wait to hear back from DU. Thanks.

I came off the 7night NYE cruise on the Magic in a Cat. 3 suite. It did not help in getting any discount at the resorts for the one night post cruise I needed before flying out on Sunday morning. I waited until AP rates came out and just went with that.

If you can't find anything else, you might want to consider bidding for a Downtown Disney hotel via Priceline. You can even occasionally get the Swan or Dolphin. We've done it several times and have ended up at the Hilton and the Hyatt. We also ended up at the Gaylord once, which is not technically in Downtown Disney, but that's the risk you take with Priceline. The others were within walking distance of the Downtown Disney stores. The rates were unbelievable...$60 to $75 for resort hotels. Check out www.biddingfortravel.com for details.
