Which resorts can accommodate 5 adults in one room? It will be DH, myself, and our 3 (over 18 Yr.) children.

My goal is to stay under $500 per night. Is this even possible?

We are looking to travel in early-mid December.

Any guidance would be appreciated!!!

We have done 5 adults in Poly Concierge - its doable, but cozy. It all depends on how you vacation - if you are only sleeping in the room then you might be fine. I would not do non-concierge though.... the extra room to spread out in the lounge, and the extra bathroom close (request 3rd floor) make it worth the extra to upgrade.

Rooms at Poly and CR sleep five and are larger than rooms other deluxes except GF (IIRC). CR garden wing is cheaper than playing for the tower ($400 or less per night for the time of year I've been looking into). Poly is more expensive than CR garden wing. Other deluxes such as BC, YC, BWI and GF sleep five adults, thought GF would be way over your price range (unless you get a room with a 25% discount)...and the rest are smaller than Poly or CR. You would be very snug, but depending on your touring style, it might not matter. You'd get one bathroom, however, which might make a different.

AoA family suites sleep up to 6 adults, have two bathrooms, a 'kitchenette' (a microwave in addition to the small fridge that all WDW rooms have) and are under $400 per night. You could also get two moderate rooms for less than $500 per night (especially if you get one during a discount period, which those days in December usually fall into). Some value resorts also have suites (AoA is a value, but I personally feel the family suites are a step above most value rooms).

Edited to add: You can also look into renting points for a DVC resort, but I'm not sure if 1 BRs sleep five adults (and a two bedroom unit might be out of your range, even renting points...not sure).

I think that if you plan well, organize before you go and stay organized int eh room you can do this. We have stayed 5 in a room at the Poly and at the BC and at the GF. I like Club Level when we do this, but it is not necessary. WE tend to use the amenities at the resort so we seldom are all in the room together.

Two of the kids will have to share a bed at any of the deluxe that sleep 5.

Otherwise, you may find it less expensive to get two rooms at a Value resort.

Probably more than $500 in December, but I'd recommend a deluxe room a Wilderness Lodge. It essentially has the same number of sleeping surfaces, but the small living area gives you more room for your luggage.

Otherwise, I agree with the suggestion to get two rooms at a moderate resort to have the extra beds and bathroom.

Oh gosh, two rooms at a value or mod. Everyone will get better rest and two bathrooms between you. I would personally choose a mod because DH and I do better in a queen than a full. I would consider a value if I were bringing an air mattress and everyone had their own bed.

Have you considered renting a dvc villa?

We just rented points (at $15 per point so no big discount or anything) for dec 17-23. 2bdrm std view at AKV Kidani for just under $500/nt. That would be plenty of room for 5 adults to spread out. There are also 2bdrm villas in the Jambo house.

I wouldn't do 5 adults in any single room. No way. I would go with 2 moderate rooms, or maybe a Wilderness Cabin before trying to cram into 1 room.

A good place to go to look at prices is Mousesavers . com. They break down all resorts by date and cost. Unfortunately going by your dates, unless there is a discount of some kind you will not be able to afford a deluxe resort. Especially once you add in the extra adult charge for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th adult. That is going to add another $75 a night to your cost at any deluxe resort.

We've stayed 5 adults in a single room before (me, wife and 3 kids all 16+) at Yacht Club. It is snug (primarily having a single bathroom in the mornings/evenings) and as someone else mentioned 2 kids would have to share a bed. Rack rates Nov. 25-Dec. 9 are $475 for a standard view room at Yacht, but there's going to be a surcharge for having more than 2 adults in a room, so probably a bit over $500. However, you ought to be able to get some sort of discount. And as others have mentioned, you can certainly get 2 rooms at a value for less than a single room at a deluxe, and probably 2 rooms at a moderate for about the same price.

Thank you for the replies. I'm assuming that the $25 PP surcharge applies to all resorts? And, after the 2nd adult?

It applies to all regular rooms.
It does not apply to AoA suites....someone else can answer about Cabins at Ft Wilderness or DVC rooms

DVC rentals would not have the charge. Occupancy is occupancy regardless of age while using DVC points.

For the earlier DVC 1BR question. BLT, AKV (not value) and OKW sleep 5 with the king bed, Queen pull out couch and a pull out chair.
VGF has the smaller Murphy bed to sleep 5.
Kidani and BLT 1BR have 2 full bathrooms.

Yes, after the 2nd adult, there is a charge for each additional adult, but it's different for each resort category:

Deluxe $25/pp/nt
Moderate $15/pp/nt
Value $10/pp/nt

There won't be extra adult charges in the Ft Wilderness Cabins, AoA Suites and ASMu Suites.

The only 2 moderates you could technically fit in one room at are POR and CBR. And the Wilderness Cabins. They are the only moderates that all 5 in one room. Though I would not recommend 5 in one room at CBR or POR. It would be very very tight.

And it would have to be a small adult willing to sleep on a pull-down Murphy bed.

Personally, I'd get 2 rooms.

No way would I do 5 in one room, but I stopped doing all 4 of us in one room years ago! And that was in a room with a daybed that made into a twin bed for DD. How on earth could you sleep?

You could do two rooms many places for your price range, moderate or even Pop would work - Mom and Dad in one room, kids in another. Request connecting, but since they're all over 18, no big deal if it's just close by.

You could look at rentals on www.redweek.com for 2 bedroom DVC units as well, which typically run less than renting points (which you could also do). That way, Mom and Dad get the master, kids get the second bedroom and you have a living room and kitchen (and the best part to me is you own washer/dryer).
