Disney relocation package

Does Disney offer a relocation package for new hires in mechanical engineering? We live in Ohio and my husband is going for an onsite interview in a week and I have been looking and looking to find any information on whether or not they would offer any relocation. This would be a big move and help with it would be tremendous. Thank you for any help!

Not sure. I'm sure your husband could call the HR person he's been speaking with and get that question answered in no time. Good luck to your husband in his interview!

I would love to take that step but since he is only in the interview process I feel that it would be overstepping if I asked before an offer of employment. I am just hoping someone has some inside information or has been in the same situation. :) I have read a lot of information saying that relocation packages are a thing of the past and hope this is not the case.

Usually if it's a certain distance you'd have to move they do. I think the amount depends on what your position is. They might bring it up in the interview if they have him meet with HR or HR is giving him a tour.

Best of luck to your husband!

I would imagine that they would have to really, really want to hire someone specific in order to offer a relocation pkg. It really isn't done anymore...at least not on a wide scale basis.
If your dh gets through the first set of interviews, and they make him an offer, he can always ask about a relo pkg. At that point, there's no harm in asking.

No idea about Disney but I can tell you that my husband's company transferred him to corporate which was about two and a half hours away and they offered him a relocation package. It hasn't completely gone the way of the dodo, yet.

Are they hiring him away from a current job, or is he a recent engineering grad just starting out? I wouldn't expect a 22-23 year old new engineer to get moving help, but someone established would be more likely IMO.

All of the above speculation, obviously.

He has been working for his current company for about 6 years. So has some experience.

Hmmmmm. My husband is an engineer :scratchin.

Good luck to your husband! Let us know what happens.

There is no "official rule" here. It depends on the job, the department, hourly vs. salaried, how far away, how hard its been for Disney to fill the job, if there's a specific skill set he has that is particularly sought-after, and on and on.

If your DH gets to a point where they're making him an offer, then part of that discussion will be relocation. Disney will likely tell him flat-out that it is (or isn't) included, but if they don't, or if it doesn't seem clear, that can certainly be part of the salary / hiring package. It's not like he's going to lose the offer if he asks.

I know people at Disney who had full relo packages, including scouting trips for homes and schools, movers, real estate liaisons, and temporary rentals while the transition was happening. I also know people at Disney who moved from three states away for management jobs who got no relo (or very limited help). It just depends.

On the plus side ... if you move for a job and the company doesn't pay for relocation, you can deduct those costs off your taxes, so keep track!

HopeFaith, I also interviewed for the position a couple weeks ago. Has your husband heard back yet? I haven't been able to get any feedback. Thanks!
