Disney Release Schedule for 2015-2017

I personally can't wait for most of this lineup of movies. I think that the Marvel movies have been (for the most part) fantastic. And it isn't like they have no-named schlubs, they have some really good talent playing in these roles. I think that Age of Ultron will be huge, only to be beat out by The Force Awakens at the end of the year. These strategic brand purchases by Disney, along with Pixar, have really positioned them well for the short, medium and long term. This is where Iger has done well for the company in my humble opinion.

I agree...

Disney studios has put out tangled, frozen, wreck it ralph, and big hero in the last 5 years alone...

That's is a great pedigree... They are back to being a force and that is - as roy e Disney once said - at the heart of the company.

Ironically...Pixar needs to elevate its game a little...they've made money but haven't produced as good of a product if late...

I'm not worried about them...but they need slight reinvention.

Take note that on this subject and this post I agree 110%! :) I couldn't have said it better myself. Pixar needs to make sure they step up a little bit. I know lots of people get all nervous when there are problems with a movie and it gets delayed. Sometimes with regular motion pictures this may mean an repairable bomb, bot not if "repairs" are done right. World War Z was a good example of a flawed and repaired movie becoming successful. Pixar's way of doing things is to not hesitate to delay to make sure a movie is good. I'm hoping the Good Dinosaur will do very well because they took the time to make it right. There is often much discussion about original versus sequels. I could care less which they make as long as they make a good movie with a good STORY. It will be interesting to see if Pixar's culture that promotes artistic development will continue or if success brings some of the problems that happened to Disney Animation in the lean years. Good leadership can keep things fresh and produce great movies. I like Lasseter and hope he can keep it fresh.

Tangled was definitely ripped apart and redone...it was hugely overbudget.

But without it... Imagine what they would have lost...not just the box office and merchandise from tangled.

There is also the fact that Marvel has 5 movies on this timeline (Avengers, Ant Man, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Guardians of Galaxy 2) while Star Wars only has 3. I know what the future state of Star Wars is, with IX, plus 2 other Anthologies in 18, 19, 20... but I also know they aren't going to stop making Marvel movies, especially Avengers.

Guardians of the Galaxy was a big success, and they are getting a sequel, but that studio has a ton of other stuff to churn out as well. Going from a July 2014 release to a May 2017 sequel is a good turnaround for that franchise.

Plus there are story reasons for Guardians to wait. Thanos to collect Infinity Gems before the 3rd and 4th Avengers movies.

Yes, and you are right, it was the right thing to do. They ended up with a great movie that has paid them back in spades. The old days of a director having an artistic vision and seeing it through blindly to find out on opening day if the public shares his/her vision is generally over, except for works like Jupiter Ascending. The new way of Pixar and DA is really the best way. Artistic vision is coupled with analysis of quality and audience response and reworked if necessary. I don't know about budget, but I assume this is what happened/is happening with the Good Dinosaur.

Tomorrowland has had a lot of hype, they just released another trailer last week. They have a very interactive mobile website that is pretty cool. The pin for the movie is a hot ticket, they have an extended preview in disney, and and epcot for the movie as well.

Ha-I shouldn't be remotely surprised to learn that I'm living under a rock. LOL I should've realized that unless they've made a Minecraft parody of it, it probably hasn't entered my 3 boys' consciousness! I'm only even aware of it because I'm a gigantic fan of Dr. House! :)

I am on the fence with the live action movies, Emma Watson as Belle? I'm doubtful.

I am loving the Avengers/Super hero movies though. I have a boy and a girl and it is nice to have these movies to be excited for and enjoy with each of my children. I WOULD love to see a Marvel meet and greet come to DHS. Really, a real live Thor to hug! AHHHH. Mickey who?
