We returned on Saturday from Disney. My DH and I had an offsite suite with my ASD son (7) and my NT son (5). The process of requesting a DAS for my son was painless, and very simple. It took less than 10 minutes total to add a day to my 5 day tickets and get a printed DAS card. The CM was kind and caring and explained very clearly how it worked.
I had no trouble throughout the week requesting return times. We actually only used it a couple of times.
On Wednesday we attempted a 7:40 FP+ on Dumbo with this cousins and then a quick sprint to see Wishes. I made, what later turned out to be a poor decision to send him to Dumbo with his Grammy, Aunts, Uncles and cousins... I stayed behind to claim a spot for Wishes.
They arrived late to the FP line, but the CMs let them ride anyway. I received a call from my mom and sister about 8:40pm that my DS had a meltdown. I did not even stay on the phone long enough to find out why, I just said "I am on my way" and started shoving through the swarm of people. They would not let him ride with his 6 year old cousin, she was too short and needed an adult rider. I was outside Liberty Square near the Wheelchair viewing section. I made a split second decision to try to cross in front of the castle to get to dumbo. When I got into main st, I was crying at this point and explained to the CM (Emily on parade/fireworks crowd control) that my autistic son is melting down and I needed to get to Dumbo ASAP. She did not even blink, she checked in with two other CM's, grabbed my hand and off we went. She said just hold on. Well... she escorted me right through all the "campers" sitting in the road in front of the castle. It felt like we were stepping on top of peoples heads... like rocks on a beach (we weren't). I was crying, walking, and frantic, she was shoving, moving and just pushing through. No apologies to the other guests, no excuse me's, just going...
She got me up there in less than 3 minutes, I could not believe it! Once we were in Fantasyland and had a chance to breath, she asked me about him and reassured me that everything will be fine.
We got to Dumbo to see him in a little ball in his Uncles arms, sitting in a bush... As I cuddled him and thanked Emily for getting me there so quickly, I started crying again.
It was an amazing feeling that at that moment, she cared just as much for my son as I did.
