my dh and i are taking one last trip to wdw in april before our first child arrives in august. we plan to do some park days and some just relaxing days. we planned to do disney quest since we've never been, but i see on allearsnet.com that many "attractions" are not for expectant mothers. has anyone gone while pregnant, and are the other "ok" attractions enough to make it worthwhile? thank you!

Primarily DQ is a huge arcade - think Gameworks if you have one of those near you, with a Disney touch. The simulator type rides are what makes it worth it and you wouldn't be able to do many of those:

Cyberspace mtn - definitely not (simulator that goes upside down, spins, etc to simulate a coaster)

Buzz Lightyear - definitely not (a bumper car ride where you also shoot nerf balls from your car at others)

Mighty Ducks Pinball - probably not (you stand on raised platforms and rock back and forth to move your ball on the screen). This doesn't have any jerky motions other than what you do yourself and I remember a handicapped one - maybe you could use that; I think you sat at that one.

Aladdin - probably. This one you sit on a horse type seat, wear a virtual reality type headset to move on your carpet. I don't remember any jerky motions, just as long as you were comfortable wearing the heavy headgear on your head.

Pirates of the Caribbean - probably. You again wear VR headgear and shoot or steer your ship through the seas. You don't actually move though so you could control your movement.

Jungle Cruise - probably not. You sit on inflatable rafts and paddle to move your boats (paddles have sensors). This is a somewhat rough ride so I'd say no.

Ride the Comix - maybe. Again a VR ride, but this time you use a sword type sensor to attack Comix. You'd be able to limit your movement yourself, but you wouldn't do very well in the game!

These are the main ones I recall. There are a lot of creativity areas (design your own CD, toy, learn to draw cartoons, etc.) that would be fun and you could definitely do. Also you could do arcade stuff. The question is how much you enjoy arcades. Personally when I was pregnant, I wouldn't have enjoyed it very much because it's SO LOUD and hot and crowded. But to be honest, I don't enjoy it so much when I'm not pregnant but have 3 boys who have loved it since they were in the 3-6 range and are now 9-12. If you go, be sure to get the cheesecake (one of the few redeeming qualities of DQ!)

oh, no. my DH will be so disappointed if we don't go. unfortunately i get bored watching him play the occasional arcade game, but figured i'd have fun at disney quest since it's so different...but now i can't do the things that make it different. :guilty:

thanks so much for all of the information

I'll be there in a couple weeks (and yes, we HAVE to go to DQ even though we only have 3 days at WDW because it's the first time my youngest will be tall enough to ride Cyberspace and Buzz - fortunately it's included in our convention passes so at least I don't feel like I'm wasting too much money if we only go for a couple hours), so if you have any specific questions or need more info by then just let me know!

My dh loves DQ. We went at all stages of my pregnancy. There was enough for me to do, just not the ones I love. Couldn't do Pirates, Jungle cruise, Buzz, virtual space mt. or pin ball. Just watched dh for those.

I went in December when I was 13 weeks pregnant. The biggest thing I noticed was I needed an afternoon break (often an hours sleep), and that is at a cooler time of year! I rode splash mountain & kali river rapids & DH persuaded me to try test track, although in retorspect I probably should have skipped this. I couldn't deal with spinny things - I didn't realise the magic carpets of Aladdin could make you feel so ill! As a result I also skipped the tea party ride in MK. I otherwise did everything I wanted, including kilimanjaro safaris (front is less bumpy). I did not ride tower of terror, star wars or roch n rollercoaster at MGM, and skipped dinosaur & primeval whirl in AK. I did everything except mission: space in Epcot. There is still so much to do, it did not matter, and on many I rides queued with DH & DD e.g. tower of terror, and then took the chicken exit as they got onto the ride itself so I could still experience the preshow etc.

Keep in mind that some of the things listed on allearsnet.com as "not for expectant mothers" are not labeled by Disney that way. Some, like Splash Mountain, Kali River Rapids and the roller coasters, are on the list of attractions that Disney recommends pregnant women avoid. Others are not on Disney's list, but might be good to skip (like the teacups because they spin and might make you queasy or dizzy.)
No one can figure out why some of the attractions are on the allearsnet list (for example, there is an active thread on this board about why Ellen's Energy Adventure is on the list).
