Disney Quest...How much time??

Dh and DS9 are planning on doing DQ on our arrival day. I'm wondering how much time we should plan for this. DS2 and myself will be hanging out at the resort and then hitting DTD for some shopping before meeting them for dinner. DS9 LOVES video games and such, so I want him to have plenty of time to enjoy himself. Any idea how long he could be in there?? is this an "all day" thing? thanks for any info

We gave DS (then 13) and DD (then 16) 2 hours the first go round. When we met after two hours they begged to go back for another 2 hours.
They also wanted to go back for a couple of hours the next day. I would suggest you be flexible. Start with a couple of hours and take it from there. Have DH call when they think they may have had enough and you can meet them later.

My DW doesn't care for regular video games but I do (grew up with asteroids, pac man, defender etc.). We spent 7-8 hours including lunch. I could have stayed longer.
There are plenty of things to do. Classic video games, virtual reality, recording studio, ride simulators.

During the daytime it was not crowded at all but when the parks started closing, it got busier.

We both enjoyed it and will go again.

With a 9 year old? Oh boy, you could literally spend an entire day there - kids that age are crazy about DQ. (Of course my DH, who is waaaaayyy older than 9 could spend an entire day there too). I would say to figure on several hours.

It can DEFINATELY be an all day thing. Me and my friends love going there on a rainy day when we're not working. There's more to do than you would think, and some of the stuff you could do for hours. Last time, we were in the recording studio for around an hour (there was no line) making crazy songs. Virtual roller coasters, virtual pinball, Buzz's Space Ranger Spin, the Pirates of the Carribbean 3-D virtual thing, the alien game, the superhero virtual reality game, the virtual aladdin magic carpet rides, white water rafting, the really cool remote control trucks, making your own toy, all the normal video games.....a 9 yr old's heaven. I'm 21, and I can't get enough of it. And don't even get me started on the cheesecake.

Thanks for all of the replies. LOL I figured he would enjoy it so much that he's spend all of vacation there. If they head over there, say about noon or 1:00 and then we meet for dinner... they can go back right? just have to have hand stamped? is that correct? I'm hoping that will satisfy him. We are getting so close to leaving, I'm not sure who's more excited... the kids or the adults Thanks for all the help!!

Word of warning...my DS loved DQ and would have spent days there unfortunately, DH could not take the virtual reality and spent the day in the restroom being sick (literally) LOL So if your DH is queasy to motion you might want to warn him. Have a great time.

Oh Boy, I never thought about the motion sickness. Dh is terrible. I did buy him some motion sickness pills this time, but maybe we ought to consider switching places. I will let him know and let him make the decision. Thanks for the heads up.

Neither my DH or DS are prone to motion sickness but both of them were sick after they played the virtual reality games (made them feel ill for the rest of the day as well).
DS just commented the other day how he will go to DQ but will NOT play the virtual reality games this time.

M4D yes to your question about getting the hand stamped then returning later. DQ stays open to 11PM during the week and midnight on the weekend so there is plenty of time to go back.

My favorites at DQ is Pirates of the Caribbean and Mighty Ducks Pinball. I can't do the Aladdin thing because I get very dizzy with that. It's a virtual thing where you wear a helmet and view the screen inside the helmet. I had to take the darn thing off.

We took 8 kids (ages 9-14) there a few weeks ago and had to DRAG them out after 6 hours. It was the highlight of their WDW trip.

Thanks for all of the great replies. Everyone here has been such a BIG help! DS is so excited now that he knows he gets to go to DQ... I haven't told DH about the motion sickness yet....we've got a few days to decide who gets to deal w/ that We leave tomorrow for vacation and arrive at WDW next Friday... YEAH!!!!

Virtual reality uses video. Some people (including me) get video motion sickness extremely quickly while riding in a car or plane is not a problem.

If you get motion sickness doing VR or at Omni theaters or Circle 360 movies, try closing your eyes and just opening them for quick flashes.

A premium annual pass or unlimited magic pass is convenient for short visits to Disney Quest, compared with paying a new admission each day for a short visit.

DONT switch places unless you love this stuff you will be bored silly- I am not a fan of games so the lure of shopping and the pool sound way better to me The best part is the food is by cheesecake factory and yummy some of the better counter service in the world. Also another big draw back for me- no strollers allowed- I had to chase my two year old all around the place and no high chairs or boosters so she fell out and over several things it was nearly dangerous in there for her Like why would they not expect some families to have younger kids and older kids As you can see I am not a fan of DQ shop my dear shop.

We were there for two hours on a moderately crowded night and saw only a portion of the attractions. If you want to see and do just about everything, I'd recommend at least 4 hours, maybe a bit more.
