A friend of my DH's said he heard that Disney Quest will be closing, to be replaced by an ESPN Zone. We've never been, but DH really wants to go sometime. Has anyone heard anything about this, and if so, when is this planned??

Yes, unfortunately it's true. Disney Quest will close Jan. 2008 to be replaced by ESPN Zone. The ESPN Zone at the Boardwalk will close and relocate.

NOOOOOO! I'm sad. Quest was a great place to pass the time in between parks.

Well, we are going in OCtober and hopefully, we will get back before they close. My son really enjoyed DQ on our trip in March.

I've been wondering if the price of premium annual passes will decrease when they close DQ? The whole reason I buy premium is for DQ and PI, but since I won't be able to go to Disney Quest anymore, it would be cheaper to just buy a regular AP and an AP for PI.

Anyone hear what will be going in ESPN's place at the boardwalk yet?

Hope we get back before they close. We all enjoyed the roller coaster simulator - my son created 5 of them, and we rode one twice, 6 times in all!
It was not real crowded when we were there, but I heard it is crazy sometimes. Any word on why they are closing it? Or will some of the stuff there be retained by ESPN? Never been to an ESPN Zone.

NO

THIS IS PURELY A RUMOR!

This rumor has been recirculating for about two years now in some shape or form. I read the supposid "article" that clown-man Jim Hill wrote, and it is full of MISINFORMATION. His articles had "quotes" from several DQ cast members, making it appear that they all know about this and were planning on relocating. I called some of my friends who work in Disney Quest, and NONE of them had heard anything other than the old rumor that had been going around. I even talked to a certain manager at Downtown Disney who is a friend of mine that also said that no change in the near future should be expected.

SO... take that as you wish, but at the very least - jim hill likes to jump to conclusions.

Jim Hill is not where I got my info. I am an agent with another WDW travel agency, and got my info from another source.

Just like with everything else, I will wait for Disney's official announcement on this one. Until then this is a rumour - nothing more, nothing less. :)

This has been a rumor for some time. I will believe it when Disney announces it.
But--- I can see that no changes have been made to DQ in years (other than Cheesecake Factory refurb.)
There is so much more DQ could be. With that kind of entertainment they need to stay ahead of the game. But we have not noticed or heard of any improvements in years. Under any circumstance no change often says a lot.
I think the main draw is Pirates, which is the newest.
The best of both worlds would be to use half the building for the most popular DQ features, and the other half with ESPN.
