We're planning our first, and probably only, trip to Disneyworld this spring (family of 5, so need larger accomodations). We're thinking of renting points at one of the disney villas, but we're starting to wonder if we should buy points on the resale market. Does that make sense if we probably won't go back to Disney? Does it cost extra to trade for other locations? How do I find out what other locations and resorts are available for trading? Is it hard to get the dates you want? Any advice gratefully accepted!

If you're never going back, it's silly to buy. There are timeshares available at lower prices that can be traded around for vacations.

If you want a DVC accomodation, renting would be the way to go OR you could just make a reservation for cash, they are available in limited numbers (albeit pretty pricey!). That's the way we went to Boardwalk the first time. We didn't know you could rent so we saved for the splurge.

... and of course ended up buying in as we had such a wonderful vacation . Never say never.

I agree that if you will never return to WDW, do not buy DVC. That being said, once you have actually visited WDW, and stayed at a DVC resort, you may find yourself hooked. You may develop the uncontrollable urge to return often!

Good luck, and enjoy your visit....
