To do a 6:00 ressie at Chef Mickey then make it to the Yacht & Beach Club by about 8:00 to leave by 8:30 for the Ill. Cruise? It seems like it might be cutting it too close? I need a Disney pro!!!

Everything would need to fall into place perfectly & even then it would be difficult. It's possible, but you're gonna have to hustle & since I absolutely love Chef Mickey's I don't reccomend rushing your time there b/c it truly is an awesome time! Oh btw, are you gonna have a rental car? if so that may make it easier since you wouldn't have to wait for a bus or monorail, you could just leave as soon as you are ready.

You can do it! It just depends how fast you eat. Since Chef Mickeys is a buffet, you make your own time. How are you getting around? If you're driving you'll have no problem...if you're taking the bus, you'll have to walk to MK (only 3 minutes) and then take the bus from there.

As of right now, we haven't planned on getting a rental car. So we would be taking the bus. How much do you think a taxi would run - about $10 or so?
That's the only thing I could think of. I don't want to rush CM too much - it does seem like it would be a great time!!

I personally wouldn't go the Taxi route. You have several other options as far getting back to the YC/BC:
1) Bus from Contemporary to MGM & then walk or take the boat back to the resort.
2) Walk over to Magic Kingdom & take bus straight to resort.
3) Take monorail to EPCOT & then walk through.

Like I said if you hustle you can do it, but just make sure not to short-change yourself on the experience of Chef Mickey's.

I think you could make it too. I'd definately arrive early for your dinner at Chef Mickeys. That way your wait for the table (which we've always had) won't cut into your eating time.
IMO, I'd take a taxi, I think that is easiest...just me.

This is the best advice....oh and Walkt Quickly!!!!

When are you going? Would it be possible to get a Wishes Cruise instead of Illuminations?!? Then you could just leave from the Contemporary!

Other than Taxi, I would think your best bet would be to walk to the MK and then take a bus directly to the YC (the bus usually stops at the YC first then the BC!). It truly is a very short walk from the CR to the MK. (A lot shorter than cutting all the way thru Epcot or getting back to the YC from MGM)

It may be pushing it, but it could be done - Have Fun!

Personally, I'd get to Chef Mickey minimum of 20 minutes early to get you off to a good start. Remember that they take your picture etc. before seating, so the earlier the better (within reason). I'd say 5:30 would be my earliest max.

I think the easiest way to the Yacht and Beach Club would be to walk over to MK (about 5 minutes, probably not even to the busses) and on the way you pass the busses. I'd take the Yacht Club/Beach Club bus.

I would think you'd HAVE to leave Chef Mickey minimally by around 7:00 just to be on the safe side, earlier would be better of course, but getting to the restaurant early might help that the most.

With a little planning and watching the clock, I would think you could do it.

I wouldn't want to do it, simply because I would be looking at my watch every 10 seconds at Chef Mickeys and not enjoying myself at all because I was worried about missing the cruise.

That being said... I do think it's possible.... you'd have to eat fast, which, with a buffet, is definitely doable. Get out of Chef Mickey's by 7:15 at the absolute latest. You can't get an earlier ressie?

I also agree with the monorail over to Epcot, and walking to Y&B... you have more control with how long it would take you to get there. With busses... sometimes you get lucky and a bus arrives right away, and sometimes you end up waiting 30 minutes. So I wouldn't risk a bus.

Get there early for the picture, eat and enjoy, plan to leave around 7, if something happens to delay you take the taxi. Otherwise, I'd take the monorail if I felt up to walking (just cause I think the monorail is fun). The bus is less walking overall if that is an issue.

We took that cruise in November. I didn't tell our group why we were madly rushing through the International Gateway to get somewhere. We got there right at 8 and the folks there were all, "cool, glad to see ya, look around the resort (we grabbed something at Beaches and Cream), be back here for your cruise."

Can you change your reservation at CM to 5:30? That would give you a little more time to enjoy your meal.

It's doable but I wouldn’t do it. Is it worth stressing yourself out having to rush? IMHO no.

thought with the illuminations cruise u had to arrive at the dock for 8pm....better double check that

Arrive early for dinner, I'd say 5:15-5:30. With an AR, they will seat you just as if you were on time, not early(unless you are really, really early). You will still have to wait for a table, but you will most likely be seated before 6:00.
When you are almost done with dinner you can decide how much time you have.
In my opinion you have two choices:
1. If you have plenty of time (45min or more), walk to MK, and take the bus to YC/BC
2. If you have less than 45min, take a taxi. It's not too much $$, and saves peace of mind

Any other option will take too long, or too much walking

I don't like rushing, so I wouldn't do it. We did a Wishes cruise from the CR after eating at CM for DD's 8th bday in Jan. That worked great!

Can you switch your dining plans to somewhere in the Epcot area for that day and do CM another night?

If you do decide to keep the plan as is, I would get ot CM at 5, when they open. They should have the most open tables then and that would give you the most time and let you relax a little.

Enjoy!
