Anyone have any thoughts on the Disney Premier Visa?

I typically say an immediate "NO" to any credit card with an annual fee, but then I get a packet in the mail yesterday offering a $50.00 credit to refund your annual fee.

Thoughts?

We just applied and were accepted immediately on Saturday, so we are patiently waiting for our card to come in. Our offer was a $100 Disney Gift Card though, look on chase.com

Lots of people have been posting that were offered the $100 gift card. Personally I haven't been tempted to switch to this card, but If you are you should wait for a better offer!

Just upgraded yesterday. Originally chose not to but got the 5% for 3 months info and did the math and decided to would work in our favor. Honestly if we continue to use it the same way after the intro year, it's still going to pay for itself.

$100 offer is only for new cardholders I believe...

I say no.

I got an offer in the mail about two months ago, with an offer for a $200 gift card if I signed up. I did, ONLY because I will be receiving a $150 gift card (when you subtract the $50 annual fee)

However, it's not that great of a deal. You earn 1 point per $100 dollars. Which is quite a rip off when you compare it to Chase Freedom's reward system.

We upgraded to the premier visa. The main reason that we upgraded is because we send alot of money to Disney, so the 2% rewards on Disney purchases will more than pay the $49 fee. If we didn't own DVC, or buy Disney annual passes, we probably would not have upgraded. Everyone just has to run the numbers to see if you would make more in extra rewards in the 2% reward categories than the annual fee is. Oh, and we got the 5% rewards for 3 months, which will be nice, as we have a Disney trip scheduled during this window.

we did the upgrade and have earned back way more than the annual fee with the 3 month bonus. this weekend i decided to take advantage of the airline program. we typically like to go down with a loaded rewards card and not spend any money out of pocket so it feels "free" once we are down there, but since the premiere pays 2% for anything spent at Disney, it makes more points sense to use our points to pay for the airfare and then get double points for what we spend down in Orlando. I figure if we charge $1000 for food and spending, that's $10 extra dollars right there--20% on the way to our annual fee just in a week alone...2 times per year and we are up to 40% there. annual passes gets us another extra $10 and we are up to 60%. by all accounts, the upgrade seems worth the annual fee for us.

I upgraded when the card first became available and have also earned way more than the $50 annual fee from the 3 month period of 5% bonus period. I mostly charge gas and groceries for the rewards value, and I've earned about $100 reward dollar since I upgraded!

I got the offer a few days ago in the mail that I was preapproved. I decided against it since we already have a Southwest Visa with a $99 annual fee and a Chase Freedom which gives much better rewards than Disney does. I still have my regular Disney Visa though, just for booking those trips :)

I have the regular Chase Disney Visa. I guess I need to run the numbers to see if it would be worth my while to upgrade. I have a trip planned in November and January...perhaps an upgrade in November would be good if they offer a big gift card.

The upgrade may be worth it because the Premier Disney card offers 3% back on certain purchases. Combined with the 100$ gift card, I may go for it myself.

I haven't used my standard Disney rewards Visa in months because the rewards are 1%. I plan on closing that account after I use up my remaining rewards (25$, big deal!).

My Chase Freedom card gives 5% on certain categories. I'd rather just get ca$h back and put that toward Disney vacation.

I'm thinking like a few other that DRV may not be the best bargain on the market as far as rewards. Our Discover offers 5% cash back, that's a whole lot better than 1% or 2%.

So... Visa may have discouraged us from using our card altogether.

We are DVC members, so the only need we would have to the 6 months 0% on vacations is when we cruise with cash instead of points.

Definitely something to think about.

The economy of credit card rewards lures me in every time. I would have every credit card offered to me just for the rewards, but I learned long ago that rewards only work to entice you to charge. We try as hard as possible to remain credit card debt free as much as humanly possible. We take advantage of 0% offers when we can, and we rarely make a purchase over $100 without discussing it first.

So for us, we may be better off going back to our Discover card - I haven't actually carried my Discover card in my wallet for several years... maybe now is the time to put it back in my wallet.

I'll still carry Mickey though HAHA Oddly enough.

If you travel to Disney often (as we all do, that's why we're here on the boards), then it is worth it to have a Disney Visa active , for the discounts on merchandise and perks.

I don't believer the Premier Disney card gets better perks, does it??

Well, it offers twice as much back on Disney purchases, gas, grocery and restaurants (2% instead of 1%). If you're renewing, you may have got an offer for 5% back on these same categories for the first 3 months. I could kick myself for not having upgraded before I bought my cruise at the end of April. :( I didn't really think about it, but I ended up putting it on my Disney Visa because of getting $50 of onboard credit inn addition to the 1% back. The cruise was $2500, so I consider that a $75 bonus. BUT if I had upgraded to the Premier, I could have gotten $175 (including the $50 OBC) bonus, which pays the $49 annual fee, and still would have put me ahead $50 over the regular Disney Visa. Blah!:headache:

Discover's 5% categories are awesome in combo with Chase Freedom's 5% categories!! Right now its 5% back on all dining/restaurants and movies up to $1500 through June for Discover, same limits and amount on grocery stores on Chase Freedom (where I buy Disney gift cards sometimes!). July-Sept its 5% back on gas, movies and theme parks for Discover, and gas and restaurants for Chase Freedom!

Between these 2 cards I can get all these categories already at 5% back; one reason I never upgraded to the Disney Premier...
