Disney premier passport

The Premier passes were dumped on Disneyland by WDW with very little explanation or input from Disneyland (who actually know how to run a Disney park properly). It took a while for the Premier passes to become something the cm's were used to seeing and for the bugs to get worked out. Most of Disneyland's attendance is from locals and people who do not visit WDW very often, so the Premier passes are a bit rare.

And yes, you do need a picture attached to your passport at Disneyland. As stated, it does not show on your pass, but does pop up at the gate.

Sounds like she just needed *training* in the Premiere passports. But it was hard on DLR CMs, for some reason they just didn't understand the Premiere for ages.

I actually don't think that's true. People who have DLR APs first will default to having that pic on file, but I haven't heard tons of people who had WDW AP's first saying they had to go get a pic taken. I've heard of it as being an *option*, but not a requirement. I could have missed some posts, though.
.

You do need a picture- not optional. They will attach it to the number so it pops up on the screen at the Disneyland gate, but it does not appear on the pass itself.

I have a WDW Annual Pass that I renewed with my DVC discount. It expires 9/19/11. I am going to Disneyland next month for 5 days and I'm trying to figure out if it would be financially better to upgrade to a Premier Pass. I believe my WDW AP cost was ~ $377. Does anyone know if they would prorate the upgrade cost based upon how much time is left until my AP expires on 9/19/11. I would have ~ 33% of the time remaining. Thanks for any information :)!

Disney does not prorate upgrades.

Does the Premier Pass go from whatever date you buy it to that date the next year or is it good until the end of the month in which you buy it? We usually get Deluxe DL AP's $330-ish and will be doing 11 days at WDW next year, so was probably going to get a regular WDW AP for $399 or maybe just a 10-day hopper + DisneyQuest (I think around $350?). But this Premier Pass is awfully tempting to get ...
It would definitely tip the scales if I could get it to run from Dec 1, 2012 to Dec 31, 2013, since that's when many of the Deluxe DL AP's blackout days are ... if it is good from Dec 1-Dec 1 I think we may better off with the hopper + delayed Deluxe DL AP. Wish they would do a DVC discount on this pass, but it is a pretty good deal if you're able to do both parks multiple times in a year. I think most of us just do one coast/park multiple times and the other once a year if we're lucky.

$700 new/renewal - with no DVC discount.

We just purchased two Premiers. The price was $722.75 each. (I believe they add tax onto the portion of the ticket that is attributed to the FL parks. )

At DLR they were a number of CMs (this was in oct 2010) who seemed unfamiliar with the pass...but for the most part there were no issues...except for one time at the gate on our last day at Disneyland......

Last year, we obtained our premier passes at DL, so we had no issues because they took our pictures when we first got them.
This year we purchased our premier passes at WDW. When we purchased DH's pass at the MK, the CM said--almost in passing that the passes had to be activated at guest services before we could use them. I am assuming it is to get the picture added to the pass.

Thinking about getting Disney premier passport.

Wondering if anyone could comment on if they found it to be good value.

Benefits of passport not clear from website, any information on perks would be appreciated.

We generally visit WDW in the fall/winter/spring and DL in the summer. In the past we bought regular WDW APes and Deluxe DL AP--staggering the purchases.

Our trips for 2011
WDW: 10 days APR, 5 days OCT, 6 days DEC, 5 days Dec/Jan.
DL: 5-7 days AUG, 7 days DEC (this is unusal for us to go to DL in DEC, but DH has a business trip. :confused3 )
Obvioulsy, it made sense to get DVC WDW APes in APR... But, the trick was deciding whether to get a premier to include DL or just get the deluxe DL AP in AUG. If we bought individual WDW/DL APes, the DL pass would then cover our visits through mid AUG 2012 for just a few more dollars (it would also have 50 block out dates--mostly Saturdays and holiday breaks).
We went with the Premier passes because we may not go to DL in the summer of 2012 :scared1:  as we are looking at some other vacation spots.
Here is my cost comparision:
Costs Premier Pass:
$722.75 (incl tax)
vs
DVC WDW AP $424.54 (incl tax)
DVC DL Deluxe AP $309.00
total $733.54

Unfortunately, they don't prorate it any more. They used to--maybe 10 or15 years ago--it was an awesome deal.

Does anyone have the most up to date info on the PP discounts?

What ever the Premium pass discounts are at each resort, those are the discounts. So at Disneyland it's 20% off merchandise and 15% food. DTD discounts very by location. I have not been to WDW since march so not sure about those.
