Disney Pregnant- HELP!! needed ASAP

Good tip about the insurance. If your insurance says it's covered, go for it. DD was born in Celebration Hospital when we lived near Orlando. Great staff, great facilities, even the food was good. :confused3 Celebration was not a trauma center back then (don't know if they are now), so if you have complications, they must transfer you to Orlando (I think to Dr. Phillips Hospital).

So, if you don't mind taking a chance of birth actually happening on vacation, go for it.

Okay, my fear here is that no matter how wonderful the hospital might be, I would never want to have my baby in another state because if anything goes wrong, and the baby has to stay in the hospital awhile, then what?

When my son was born at 36 weeks he was fine to go home on the 3rd day. The same day, my friend's baby was born at 40.5 weeks. She passed meconium during labor, just before she came out, after they had broken my friend's water so they didn't know it happened till she came out covered in it. As a result she aspirated meconium into her lungs and had to stay in the NICU for 2 weeks. And my nephew who was induced at 38 weeks had water in his lungs and an 8 day stay in the NICU.

So my point there is that it's not always the babies you think who end up having trouble after birth. I would have thought my preterm son would have had more trouble than the full term babies, but that wasn't the case.

Births are not always simple, glorius events, and I know, if it were me, that something happened during delivery, I would be constantly 2nd guessing myself about what would have transpired in my own hospital with my own dr.

My vote is no as well. 37 weeks is full term... many docs even consider 36 weeks full term, so you could have the baby that week and the baby would be full term. Not worth it to me. I'd go before or after.

I ended up with Baby #4 in much the same way, LOL

Unless you live very close and are not flying, I cant imagine your doctor would give permission for travel that late in your pregnancy.

Most doctors won't allow pregnant women to travel within a few weeks before their due date and honestly I wouldn't want to travel especially to disney. I would recommend changing the date to sometime during your second trimester, when it is safer and more comfortable. BTW I went when I was 20-21 weeks preggo with my DD and I had a great time! I rested when needed and drank lots of water.

If I were in your situation, I think I would try and reschedule. I had a trip planned at 31 weeks, and I decided to cancel. I just thought long and hard about the possibility of having the baby at Celebration hospital, and it was something I just didn't want to risk. Chances are that you could go and be fine, but you have weigh in the unexpected. I'm sad we are not going in Sept, but I know I made the right decision. You really have to think about what could happen, and you obviously have other children to worry about if something goes wrong and you are far away from your support network.

I am in the boat with those who say no. My sister is pregnant and we're traveling 5 weeks before her due date and her ob said no way. I went a few years ago at 6 1/2 months pregnant and will never do it again. So miserable...long flight, long days...lots of walking. First time for swollen ankles. Plus I get preeclampsia so my bp is high. Just wont do it. I would call your dvc owner and get them to rebook your stay for you.

Congratulations! We were in the exact same boat as you, except the DVC thing.
We were originally booked this coming Oct & then found out we were expecting early Nov.
We moved our trip up & went in May instead. It was so nice being able to enjoy the parks more than I would have at 8+ months.

My OB gave me written permission to travel at 36 weeks with DD#2. I flew from MI to AZ and back. However, long story short, after we returned home (thankfully!), I ended up having the baby at home - not intentionally! She was early and labor was FAST! Needless to say, with my 3rd pregnancy, my OB didn't even want me going to the grocery store by myself at 8 months pregnant. I had 36 hours of labor with my first, minutes of labor with my second, and 14 hours of labor with my 3rd. Each pregnancy is so different. I wouldn't risk it.

Hi,

Congratulations!!!

As a DVC member who has rented points in the past, I just wanted to tell you that it is possible to reschedule your trip if you give enough notice. You could probably push your vacation up a couple of months, but the only availability might be at SSR or OKW. If you push it back the problem may be that the points have an expiration date to consider. It is possible though. I would call the person you are renting from ASAP so that they have a larger window of options to work with you.

As a mother who has had complications at the end of each pregnancy, I would say "No" to traveling that close to the end. Sorry;)

Good luck!
Pam

First off, Congrats on the baby to be! I am pregnant right now with my 4th and it happened the exact same way! Gotta love those surprise babies!! Anyway, we had a trip scheduled for December (which is when I am due) and changed it to June (we just got back). I didn't want to go so close to my due date - I felt like I would not be able to enjoy things as much as I would want.

I've done Sea world, discovery cove and Universal at 6 months, traveled at 7.5 and been okay DD was born 37 weeks. Just drove to St.Louis and my feet swelled in the car really badly. I live in the rockies and am VERY active though so I'm used to heat and the stress being on my feet all day.

Personaly if you OB is willing and you history indicates you don't go early and your old OB is willing to step in JUST IN CASE, I don't see the problem, BUT only if you can not get your reservation moved. Most will move the reservation with a medical excuse like pergnancy. That would be the only reason why I'd go 8+
