Disney & Pompano Beach ? (slightly OT)

Not sure where to put this one.....

May 5-15...we are staying at La Costa Beach Club in Pompano Beach, FL...driving from PA & hoping to catch a day or 2 at Disney..either on the way up or down.

Who has been to La Costa Beach Club or Pompano Beach before? If I can maximize my time & $$$ there...then they'll be more resources leftover for my Disney Days.

Maybe I do have Disney issues. OK? Too Pathetic? Too Sad? LOL....

Anyway...Any tips? Reviews? I'm trying to be as budget minded as I can. It has a kitchenette...so I'm hoping that will help with meals. Breakfast & Lunch atleast?

I know a lot of people love Disney in May. I am A LITTLE afraid that it will be too warm for us. We much more prefer Feb. & March. But hey...it's Disney. How bad can it be?

I just got back from Pompano Beach Wednesday.

If you have kids please check out Wanna a do city at the Sawgrass mall in Fort Lauderdale. Its a little city where kids take on grown up jobs. Its a lot of fun for the kids.

Pompano Beach is about 3 1/2 to 4 hours from Disney- we usually go up I-95 to Fort Pierce and then take the Florida Tpk to 417. It took us about 3 hours and 45 minutes -- The disney area has tons of traffic.

I would love to find a great place to stay in Pompano - we are thinking of going to Pompano before or after Disney - FIL lives there. The one place I was looking at was a timeshare - forget the name, but they didn't have any rooms available.

Is it an easy drive to Disney from Pompano Beach?

The drive from Disney to Pompano Beach is easy until the Palm Beach Area. My daughter stated that part was like test track. The highway has 5 -6 lanes of traffic and can be congested during the week. But other than that its a lot of farm and orange grove landscape-

We took the drive from Pompano to Orlando and it took about 3 1/2 hours of driving plus a 15 minute stop on the turnpike.

A nice hotel down there is Ocean Sands Resort and Spa, they are remodeling it, and it is awsome. A but pricy though, but we found it worth it.
