Disney , please don't do this...

why so many people feel that they deserve preferential attraction line access (extra FP+) because they stay at a Disney resort . Why ? When you book a Disney resort you should be choosing it for its what you can afford and for its amenities . It also entitles you to special services like MDE , Disney Parks transportation , and EMH . Regarding the parks I still say everyone regardless of whether they are a day guest who lives locally , or a family visiting from the UK staying at the GF for a week should have the same opportunities to access and use the FP+ system and that no guest visiting the park is more deserving of extra FP+ than any other guest . I guess we'll have to agree to disagree .

It would still be fair for Disney to give deluxe resort guests more FPs because everyone has the chance to book a deluxe resort. It can be part of the amenities of that level of resort. We all would just get to decide if they were worth the cost or not.

Exactly, you choose a Disney resort for its amenities. If Disney chooses one of the amenities or "special services" to be additional FP, so be it. Just because it was not done in the past does not mean it won't be done in the future. EMH, another in park perk, had to start somewhere too.

Why do so many people feel like they deserve extra hours in the parks because they stay at a Disney resort? The answer is they don't feel like they deserve it, they feel like it's a perk worth paying more for. If Disney finds people will upgrade their resorts for more FP, why should they not make it a perk? It's the Walt Disney World Resort, not Walt Disney World theme parks and Walt Disney World hotels. They are one. It makes sense for Disney to use one to increase sales at the other if they can.

It's not about deserving extra, it's about giving more of your vacation dollars to Disney and being rewarded for it. No one is made out to be "entitled" when they complain EMH was cut down an hour. What's the difference? How dare people feel they "deserve" more park time than an offsite guest.

Yeah, it's one company, whether we like to think of it that way or not. Actually, one could say WDW is really a hotel company that runs theme parks to fill their hotels, more than the other way around, due to the very high number of rooms they have.

I agree with this, but there is more.

Maybe it is a sense of entitlement, but my family has always taken advantage of being 'in the know.'
My very earliest memory of WDW was rushing to the Haunted Mansion first thing in the morning way back in the early seventies. Back then, Haunted Mansion was a headliner attraction. It simply amazes me that it is STILL a huge draw!) By 11am, HM had an hour plus wait- even back then. A little knowledge saved us a ton of time.

I don't think park touring should be equal for everyone. I think folks who have been to WDW 100 times and given WDW 1,000's of $, should get an advantage over those who have never been before.

I think those folks who are clever enough to arrive with a strategy should have an advantage over folks who don't know anything about WDW and wander around aimlessly, or turn their brain off at the turnstile.

I miss the Disney Club. I miss e-ride nights. I miss waking up Tinkerbell. I miss the magic island paintbrushes, and bonus certificates. I miss being able to get a same-day dining reservation to dine in the castle. I miss walk up characters.

Since the internet has effectively ended the ability of WDW to keep those little bonus perks a secret, the only real possibility is to make guests pay for added perks.

I go back to the deluxe resorts. Like you, I used to think paying extra for the deluxes was absurd. Then I tried it. I still stay at the values sometimes. I'm excited to stay at AoA! But we also enjoy the bonuses of staying deluxe.

I can only speak for me.

I won't go at all if offsite people are locked out of fastpasses and I do stay onsite much of the time. Of course it looks like they will get their three but I'm reserving judgment until everything is in place. People might disagree but that would be the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

I am a dvc member, have AP's, stay at deluxe resorts when not using DVC, ....that adds up to a few dollars..not including staying concierge on Disney ships...I would love to get a few extra FP's and extra perks....I'd also be happy to buy a Front of the line pass......or pay for EMH's.....

I'm quite happy to give the mouse more money if it meant less wait times.....

But as always YMMV.:thumbsup2
