Anyone use the Disney Play App in the parks yet? If so, how do you like it? What are the games like?

We messed around with it a little bit last week. It's only available for MK and HS. It was very, very slow to respond on my phone. It looks cute. We played a trivia game while waiting in the FP+ line for Jungle Cruise. It gave us 10 trivia questions about AdventureLand...and we only got 5 right. We could have kept going with more trivia, but our turn to ride was up.

It did give us some kind of points or award for being in JC line. Not sure how all that works. When I downloaded the app, it said only 1000 people had downloaded it, so it must be really new.

It is really new. It just came out last weekend. I downloaded it, but most of the games aren't accessible unless you are actually in the parks. We have a trip at the end of this month. I was just wondering how it was working. Thanks for your feedback.

I downloaded the iOS version and it has Animal Kingdom and Epcot, too. Not a ton to do in each, but some. Our trip isn't for two weeks so I haven't used the in-park features yet. It has playlists, though, for different sections of the parks, that ties in with Apple Music. I thought that was really fun. Or maybe this is only visible if you have Apple Music?

I messed around with it a little bit while in the parks. I added some music to my playlists including the Happily Ever After theme song. Did a few trivia games. It's a fun app, although I had already spent too much time on my phone rather than enjoying the parks, so I limited myself.

I downloaded the Android app at home. Played trivia with the kids at home, against each other & as teams. We're looking forward to using it as another line game option next week. My kids are teens. Doesn't hurt to have another time killer in the arsenal & we're looking forward to seeing how many strangers we can get to join in (we usually can with other line games we do.)

used it last night at TSLand, my DD17 and I really enjoyed it, it did help pass the time. I like that the games are meant to be played in each specific queue, it brings what you are looking at around you into play with the game. We played both games offered inside the TSM queue and SDD queue. My only complaint is that the DHS hub trivia is mostly about Star Wars (and if you know me I'm a HUGE fan of SW) I wished it had more of the overall DHS original theme

I downloaded it, but I couldn't do as much since I am no where near the parks right now. I plan to try it when we are there. It looks like you get points or awards or achievements for each ride you get on. Some of the games are limited to only when in line for that ride.

Tried. Right now there's just not enough to do to make it worth any effort. Half the stuff in MK didn't even work anyway. Or at least, didn't even register as I was there, despite having all the necessary location settings on. For example, it never saw that I rode HM, even though I used a FP. And the location settings on all the time are a battery hog mind you. In a place where you are already chugging battery juice. I needs to do a lot more to make it worth the effort. So for now, color me very disappointed with it

All versions have all parks.
What PP means is only MK and HS have any interactive, in-park features. Epcot and AK have none.
What PP means will makes sense when you are there.

Never saw any option or way to add strangers to your game or play with. Unless you knew their name, which I didn't. Other than DH and he doesn't have an account

yeah, no option for strangers to join in unless you are thinking that when it says "pick up to 4 players" it means strangers. You just add names to your own game to play against and with your family, you pass the phone around

that's weird, I haven't played in MK only DHS but it got my location inside the TSM and SDD and encouraged me to play. Did you have bluetooth turned on? I never do so I turned it on one I arrived at the park

Reminds me, I did ride SDD and didn't notice it alert me to anything. I need to look to see if it saw I rode.
I did see I rode Space Mountain

We didn’t ride anything with a long line so didn’t play in line. In Epcot my daughter did the Phineas and Ferb game through the app with mixed results. When not many were playing it worked well but when it was busy it didn’t work well at all. Kept freezing and needing to restart. She finally gave up. It worked the same as when we went to a kiosk and used safari to do the activities

Epcot does; Epcot has "Agent P's World Showcase Adventure" on six buildings, and that's an interactive in-park game; at home right now, mine says, "To unlock this experience, go to Epcot." Whether it's an awesome game or lame or what, it's still an in-park feature of the app. I didn't see any in AK that were similarly locked for out-of-park play, but even so, "it's only available for MK and HS" (and Epcot as it turns out) isn't true, strictly speaking; there are games and playlists and so forth for all four parks included, some of which you can enjoy both in-park as well as some of them outside the park.

I find the app cute even at home (especially the playlists), but with this, as in all things, YMMV. Even though I think it's cute, I can't imagine I'll spend that much time with it, since there's usually so much else to do. And given how stellar their website/app performance has been in general of late, I'm not at all surprised that it's not working correctly! lol.

Android doesn't have DAK or Epcot available to play right now - both are grayed out and labeled as "coming soon"
Being in the park doesn't activate anything on them either which is especially frustrating when you are looking at a sign telling you to open the app and play but are unable to

I did forget about Agent P.

And it wasn't me that said only MK and HS were set up so far. It was part of the release I read from Disney. I was just repeating what someone else repeated above. And clarifying when someone thought it meant only those 2 maps were included on their version

That much be why, there isn't anything to do on them and must be what I read in the release.
The iOS has the maps for all 4 parks but there's no activities, other than Agent P at Epcot, as PP mentioned. I guess when they add more to do they'll include the maps.

There's definitely always the chance they'll add more to the app in the future -- more activities, festival or event specific things, and so on. It could be a really interesting app, if they followed through on that. Or it could be a big dud, if they don't.
