My husband is urging me to post this question, do you think we can fly with our lanyards w/pins in our carry ons? I don't see the need to but for some reason he thinks the kids may want to have them. I'm thinking with all the rules they won't allow the pins.

They're allowed, just be aware security may ask you about them. I had my lanyard and pins in my carryon in Dec, and never was asked about them.

We always travel with our WDW Pins in our carryon and have never had an issue. We also travel to and from figure skating competions several times a year with the dd's skating pin traders and lanyards in our carryons.

There is no TSA restriction against pins, in fact you even carry scissors as long as they are less than 4 inches in length.

Here is a link to the TSA list of permitted/prohibited items:

Since you are no longer allowed to lock your checked bags (except with the TSA locks) you should never pack anything of value in your checked luggage. The TSA has free reign to open and search any case at any time and unfortunately things sometimes do go missing.

We just got back in February. Never had any problems with the trip to or from Florida. You should be fine! :thumbsup2

I have been flying with my pins for a few years and never had any problems taking them with me on any flight I have been on. Sometimes when going threw security they have been looked at and other times they were not looked at.

I'll tell you a funny story about carrying pins on an airplane. A few years ago when collecting pins had just started, my daughter and I were flying to Orlando from Nashville. When we went through security they took my daughter and her luggage aside and called for security. We had no idea what was going on. They went through her bag and came across a little bag. When they opened it and was the pins, they all started smiling. When my daughter had balled the pins up on the lanyard and put the whole thing in a little tied pouch, they thought it looked like a hand grenade. :confused3 That's the only time they have ever stopped us.

A hand grenade...is there anything Disney won't market? :rotfl:
