Disney Pins- How do you wear them in parks and Display at home?

Thank you for the pinpics website! Very cool.

OT, but I have a question. We have 2 pins that don't have any specific # or identifying information on the back. One is a "t" and the other is an "s". I'm sure they must spell something, but what??? Anyone seen these single letter pins and can give me a suggestion of what category they might fall under?

TIA!

I am a TA, I have 3 full lanyards that are hanging up behind my desk.
They get alot of attention from clients in the office.

Does anyone have tips about keeping them on? What can I do to keep them from falling off when I wear them?

You can purchase backs that will lock the pins on! If you are at WDW you can buy them there! I have seen them on ebay also. 60 of them for 25 bucks!

Those are what I use to keep the pins on my lanyard and I can say they work great, so I never had any problems with them.

Hey! Thanks for your ideas. I bought the canvas boards today and some fabrics. I just wanted to ask you you attached the fabric to the canvas board. Would hot glue hold it or should I go get a staple gun? Other ways?
Me, I just trimmed the fabric and tucked it under the frame in the back. The pins themselves are literally pinning the fabric to the canvas.

Great ideas posted here for display purposes. My DD's (11,9,6) all have lanyards and we have historically used the pins as souvenirs. The girls pick ones they like and I always make sure to buy the 'one' that sums up their favorite thing from the trip (usually a ride pin). My question is.... since these aren't to be traded, I'm on the fence as to whether to let them wear the lanyards (with the existing pins) on our upcoming trip. I'm thinking of taking all of the pins off, taking the lanyards into the park and letting them put their new ones on there. I think I will also buy a few this time just to let them trade. Any opinions out there? I'm terrified of them losing the entire lanyard (with pins) on a ride or something - :scared1:

Any suggestions as to which pins to buy to trade? I'm thinking of the sets I always see in the parks.

Thanks!

what great ideas!! my 2 boys and i trade w/ CM's at the park, but we only bring 6 pins on a trip. We keep the rest at home on other lanyards. The boys display theirs on their lanyards with their trophies. i keep mine on a cork board on my desk at home so i can look at them everyday! I would love to see more collections and can someone tell me about pin trading online?

I have purchased "lots" of pins on ebay before the last 2 trips (family of 4 all trading here!). I do recommend you deal with a reputable dealer, but you can get pins for $2-5 each buying this way if you want several. We always end up finding a few we want to keep, but what the others look like doesn't matter as we want them to trade. My kids (DS5 and DD8) would rather pin-trade than do attractions!! The pins in the parks start at $6, and we like to trade for cast lanyard pins that we are collecting (these are not available for sale in the parks). HTH! :thumbsup2

Every year from DS's buy a new lanyard for their pins that they buy and then hang them in their room to look at. This past trip was the first time we traded with CM. Lots of fun, DH got into more than DS's. When we got home my DS took off all his pins from all his lanyards and displayed them on a corkboard and hung it the wall. It looks good but I like how my other son keeps him on his lanyard. It lets them and us know what pins were bought or traded for that year.

I have too many pins to leave on the lanyards and leaving them in the bags just isn't cutting it anymore! Especially after reading this thread. So this is what I did. The frame is 20"X20" and it is made out of 1X1 1/2" lumber covered with some padding and the black fabric. I printed out a t-shirt transfer and ironed it in the middle. I have a few more I will have to make in order to display all my pins.

WOW! i love it!! Where do you keep it in your house?

I have my pins hanging in the hallway right outside my bathroom. It is with the collages my wife makes after each trip!;)

Very nice display! I have just finished splitting ours up into 2 canvasses - kids on one, adults on the other. I will see if I can get a pic uploaded soon. I love seeing/hearing what everyone else does with their pins once they are home!:)

Sounds like they could be the Parking Lot pins, showing each character that is on a parking letter area in the lot. Maybe???

By the way, I store my pins ON the coffee table. DH just LOVES it! :upsidedow

Well, I can tell you that the pins are part of a set that spell out "Walt Disney World".

Nice ideas! I'm gonna need to do something like that with my pins, as my small collection is kinda growing (funny how they do that!)

I keep most of my pins in one of those soft zipper binders they sell at WDW. We do have some sets framed and on display in a hallway in our house, too.

My favorite is from the Millennium Celebration. Dh and I went alone, so in a collage-style frame (it's custom matted so everything looks nice and neat) we have: a 5x7 of dh and me in front of SE with the "2000" wand, our park passes, two Millennium Disney Dollars (to see the front and back), and 3 pins ... one w/SE & 2000, one from our resort (CR), and the one Millennium pin that says "I Was There!" :)

I also wear a lanyard sometimes at WDW, but most of the pins are ones I have locking backs on, because I collect more than trade. ;)
