My daughter purchased some pins on our last trip and the backs of the pins never stayed on when we put it on her lanyard? Are there backs of pins that work better to purchase ahead of time? I just am trying to avoid having them fall and get lost somewhere.
Thanks!

The metal backs are the worst. Get some of the rubber backs. I know they sell extra backs at WDW. I think they're something like $4.00/20 (I remember they weren't real expensive). Most cast members will tell your DD to keep her rubber back and they will take the metal backs. I think that is soooo nice since the pins are so expensive. :thumbsup2

We had the same problem. We bougt the locking backs, so my DS didn't lose any of his pins. You use a tiny allen wrench to tighten them onto the lanyard. It is a little time consuming but well worth the piece of mind!

I 2nd this - we found the black plastic didn't stay on either. We bought the locking backs, approx $9 for 12. We used the locks on the ones we knew we didn't want to trade so there was never any confusion. The ones with the plastic fell off occassionally but we usually heard or saw it. Every once in awhile we would get a pin that would consistently fall off, so we either quickly traded it or locked it on.

are the ones with the medal.. are they propins or real disney pins... I knew to ask for the Mickey Ears backing.. I am just learning..thanks.

totally get the rubber backs, they fall off less and are more comfortable to wear around you neck on the lanyard.

But i have a question, we went to disney last year in 05 with our then 6 year old. we are going back in 20 days with our now 7 year old and our new baby who is only going to 4 months when we are down there. I know i am nutz but baby or no baby can't keep me away from my mickey. here is my problem I have a ton of pins on my lanyard, i mean it is packed from one end to the other with no space in between. is there a better way to carry those pins around all day long rather then on the lanyard which with all those pins feels like i am carrying a bowling ball around my neck not to mention you get really really hot carrying all that bling bling around? I mean i can take some off but then i wouldn't have what i would want with me to trade and still make my kid happy with the ones he likes. you see i never thought i would like doing this, i thought it was to silly but as soon as we got down there last year, the first day in AK, i bought a hat with pins on it for my son and i turn into a pin trading nutcase. i love it but you know secretly say it is for my son this way i can still keep my street cred lol. anyway any ideas on how to lug my pins around please let me know.

thanks

Hey Jessica Rabbit sounds like it is time to invest in a pin book. They come in 2 sizes, Small about the size of a photo book with 6 or so pages, and Large about the size of a laptop computer bag only square. Keep the lanyard with a few kid trade pins and let the 6yo wear it, and put all the nice ones away in the book. Pick one to buy basied on your collection and project future growth and just store it with your diaper bag. That way you still have them but don't have all that weight around you neck.

Would it be a "no no" to have Disney and Non-Disney pins on the same lanyard? I have some pins from ski resorts and church that just sit in my jewelry box. (I'm not a pin trader or collector...but I have some that I like and want to wear.)

Also, Jessica Rabbit, you might be able to make your own pin book with a notebook or photo album and some fabric.
