Wow, that is an amazing photo. What type of camera is that?

No offense, but saying that to a photographer is like saying to a musician... that's a wonderful melody, what kind of guitar are you using?

LOL just giving you a hard time... I'm sure Jeff gets asked what kind of camera he's using all the time. But remember, it is the photographer that makes the picture, not the camera...

Hi Disneygrl36, I took it from the monorail as it was traveling around to the Epcot station. Actually that is the reason why I took the mono to Epcot, to take a couple of pics from it.:thumbsup2

I'm sure you're right, but I also think the camera and the programs used on the photos after they've been taken have a lot to do with the final product. You have to have the eye, but you also can't do it alone. I'm not trying to diminish the skills of anyone here, because you're all very forthcoming with tips and settings, etc., but I don't believe that picture wasn't fiddled with in some way. The right equipment, in the hands of an expert, makes all the difference, otherwise professional photogs would be using point and shoots and not carrying around all those lenses, filters, etc.

I lurk on this thread and am really excited to be going down next month to take my own pics. But I had to chime in on this.

Yes, the photographer does a lot for a pic; he/she adds the soul to it. But you cannot discount the kind of camera used to snap that pic. I'm sure our Nikon DSLR will rock the heck out of one of our previous ones. Sony Mavica, anyone? :lmao: And, yes, that thing is still being used (by one of dh's friends). Last year we used our little Sony (I forget the name, it was a 3.2mp that we'd had for a few years) on our trip to the World. When we got home, we realized that the pics sucked and that we *needed* to upgrade to a higher quality camera.

So ... The kind of camera does indeed matter! As does the skills of the photographer. It's a combination that makes for a great picture.

jmho ...

I agree, although these days even more important than the camera is what sort of editing software did you use after taking the photo that helps to explain why the pictures look the way they do. The photos on this board are beautiful, but (no flames here) sometimes can feel a little repetitive and lifeless. The heavily edited, beautiful pictures are almost always night shots taken without any people in it, then edited with Topaz or Photoshop. The photographers definitely have a good eye and know how to set up an excellent shot. I just sometimes look at the pictures and think, "oh, another one where they waited until everyone left, stuck the camera on a tripod, and took a long exposure. I personally enjoy the shots of Disney World where there is life in them, people, and daylight. As an amateur photographer, I know it is much harder to get a great shot while the park is running at full steam and there are various factors that are changing second by second while trying to get the shots. I love seeing the shots where the photographer catches a "second in time at Disney World". That is - a moment where they took the picture at precisely the right second. A couple of seconds sooner or later and the shot would be gone. Again, all of the photos are beautiful, just stating my thoughts.

Good Morning...
