I have been meaning to tell you. I LOVE the outfits you have your kids in. Whee did you get them? It would be a nice gift to bring back for my little neice who just turned 3. (I would have taken her with us, but her parents want to take her for her first trip, I don't blame them.)

CanadianCruiser2-

Nice photo!

Did you use a tripod? Do you know approximately what your camera settings were? Also, where were you standing?

I'm hoping to master a nice fireworks photo!!! Have tried several times before but I didn't quite get it....or maybe I'm too critical...or both!

Thanks.

What I wouldn't give to win the lottery and have these guys in my Duck Room!!

Thanks! Yes, I used a small tripod, but it's hard to get a clear line of sight as you can see from the picture. It was clear until that parent put their kid on his shoulders, but hey it's Disneyworld - that sort of thing does happen right? :teeth:

I have a Canon S40 camera, and I used something like F5.6 with a 1.5 second exposure. It's really tricky to time the shot to when the fireworks are going off I find especially when there's really bright flares since they tend to burn out in the shot. I just set the auto timer to 2 seconds to eliminate camera shake when depressing the shutter release button.

Beyond that I take as many shots as possible randomly to when I think something's going to explode. You end up with a few bad ones that you delete, but sometimes you get some keepers.

Here's a sample of one that I took using a Canon G6 at Epcot.

Pretty close to the entrance to Kilimanjaro. There is a concrete sitting area and I was sitting on the top portion of it.

I must break the rules a bit; tonight is my first night posting pics and I have to post two instead of one for today; (please remember how you felt the first time you could post pics and how much you wanted to share the magic!) :thumbsup2 These were taken Oct 05 in the World of Disney in Downtown Dis; the jewelry part of the store.

On our last trip my kids took better pictures than I did .....QUOTE]

I know the feeling. I handed DS the camera while I took charge of the video (as dads do :cool1: ) and he came up with some great shots which I know I couldn't have managed. Here's one (OK I know it's not WDW but it is Orlando :sunny: ) taken from nearly at the top of the seating - as far away from the action as it's possible to be (must get there earlier next time). What I would give for a steady hand like his.

Your Sea World photo is one of the best that I have seen, and with the baby too! Sometimes it pays not to be so close, you get a different perspective on things, and I don't think you would have seen the baby so clearly. Your son did an awesome job!

We love Sea World too!

Really it's not English. It's called EXIF. This will tell you everything possible about how a shot was made. If you study enough of these while looking at the outcome (the picture) you will soon get the idea of what it takes to make that "great shot" everytime. It is a very good tool.:thumbsup2:
