I will do photo pass. Why not... if I don't like any of the pictures I am not obligated to buy... but what if I prepay and then change my mind, do I get my money back?

Also, I really only want the Photo book not the CD. Can I do this?

I want to be able to upload my pics, use any photopass pics and the disney stock photos. I want to put into the Disney photobook and that is it. Online it says the cost of the photo book is $80 and ($50 for an additional copy) and then you can pay for extra pages.

Does anyone know a way to get a discount on the photobook only. Do I have to prepay (can I even?) to get just the photobook?

I'm not sure I'm going to be able to answer your exact question, but I can tell you about our own experience with the Disney Photobooks.

First, let me say that I love them and totally think they are worth the money. A really cool souvenir, for people who don't like to buy all the little knick-knacks at the parks. :-)

We take a reasonable amount of photos with Photopass, but don't usually purchase many. Only if there are some great ones of our whole family that we don't usually get because someone is out of frame taking the picture. But if I recall, to use the photopass photos in the book, you don't have to pay for them individually. I would upload the photos we took, use photopass photos, and their stock photos all in the book.

I'm not sure why you would prepay for the CD unless you were going to use the photos to make an album yourself? I certainly don't think they're going to give you your money back after the fact. I love Disney - but do they ever really give you money back? :-)

If you have any more questions about the photobook process feel free to PM me and I can tell you what I know.

I personally find it better to get the CD and make my own photobook through Shutterfly or a similar service. Sure, the book itself doesn't have a Disney theme -- but the photos do, and for the amount of money you save it's worth it, in my opinion. Plus, the Shutterfly books are real nice. I get several and give them as gifts, something that would be cost-prohibitive (at least for me) if I bought the books through Disney.

We have also used Shutterfly for albums and can vouch for them. Very nicely done - lots of options.

To OP sometimes they give you a photopass card when you check in that has a 20% discount code on it if you are having a celebration. Our celebration was our kids' first visit.

To a pp comments. I bought the CD and used the photos in a shutterfly book. You CAN do your book thru shutterfly or snapfish AND have them have a WDW theme. Below is a page from my WDW themed Shutterfly photobook:

I got this idea from another website. Using photoshop I took my own background/scenery photos turned them black and white and made photocollages using my other photos. I then uploaded the photos to shutterfly as full page photos. Voila Disney Themed photo book with way more photos plus all my photopass photos. My cover was one of my photopass photos. You can do this using the digital scrapbook option or not. I used the black and white book so I didn't have to create a spine with photoshop.

ETA - there is another photo site out there that does photobooks that has this use your own photo as background option, but I forget what it's called.

Thanks for everyone's input. :cutie:

I do have a few more questions. ( I would PM Wrigther but I don't know how to do this.)

The only reason I was thinking of prepaying is because I thought you got a discount??? Is that promotion over?

We are celebrating an occassion.. my birthday, so maybe I will wait and see if I do get a discount coupon.

I have used Shutterfly so that is an option, but still I would have to spend $125 for the CD and then pay for the shutterfly book.

The Disney photopass "downloading" option for $14.95... is that per picture?

I just did my first photo book after our trip in April and it was so much fun! Actually, there was a "special" on the book which tempted me to try. I think it was $15 off the regular price of the book. I had a great time, uploaded all my pictures as well as those my daughter took and included them with some of the PhotoPass choices. I liked my book so much, I made another one for my daughter! We had taken the trip with her two boys (my two grandsons). I think ordering the CD is just one of the many choices you have from the PhotoPass website. You can choose only the items you want, or look at them and choose nothing at all!

Hope this helps! We were celebrating our anniversary and received a 20% off Photopass card. We purchased the Photobook making the cost around $63.00 or so. There were some great photos on our Photopass, however no where near enough to make it work $125.00. Between the few shots they took and many photos I uploaded (no charge) we now have an excellent photo album. The different themes, styles, and layouts are great. We've decided to get a Photobook for all of our trips, and seeing as though we just joined DVC last year, we have 49 more years of Photobooks in our future!

Photopass CD is 99.99 if you pre order before you go and 149.99 if youy buy it at the park or after your vacation.
if you pre order and don't get a lot of pictures or don't like the pictures you can get a refund.

I don't know about the photobook but I would assume it's the same

You can prepay for the cd and also for the photobook. I saw it yesterday when I was looking into the prepay photopass cd.

Yes, but can I pre pay for JUST the photobook without the CD? and if so, is there a price incentive to purchase before the trip?

The first year, I just did the book. I'm really sorry I did. It was nearly as expensive as the CD and I only used a handfull of pictures. (I added more pages.) The next year, I just bought the CD. I probably tripled the number of pictures by adding various enhansements.
