Aren't those dates earlier than in recent years? I thought it was usually early December in the past.

Yes, this is definitely earlier. It used to be the first full weekend of December, so many were expecting this to be around 12/3-12/5 this year before these dates were released.

Filming for the “Disney Parks Unforgettable Christmas Celebration” is planned to take place November 10-13 at Magic Kingdom Park on parts of Main Street, U.S.A. and at the Castle Forecourt Stage.
