Hi Everyone!

I am new to this thread and also new to posting on the DisBoards. So hopefully I am doing this right This is my first year applying for the Moms Panel so I'm not expecting to make it, but am really loving reading all of the boards and learning even more!

There is no reason why you can't make it the first year. I did. It is just one of those things where we all apply, and hope for magic to strike. Frankly the application process, and the anticipation, were a lot of the fun for me.

It appears that the 71 mystery has been solved as has the rice clue. It appears we will have "71 minutes" to answer the questions in Round 2. my brain hurts ... sometimes it is best to look for the simple answer, rather than thinking 10-layers deep . No matter what this #DisneyMP process always delivers the fun factor!!

Are you sure about that? I just looked back over some of Gary's tweets and saw one exchange that suggests something different. Someone asks if 71 means 71 seconds for the video, to which Gary replies, "getting warmer."

Anything is possible, but I'd say the jury is still out on this one.

Agreed! I made it all the way to R3 last year, my first try! Wish I could have crossed the finish line, but it was a fun process and I've come back for more this year!

Nope...which is why I said "it appears". I shared based upon the following exchange which occurred after the one you reference above, and which seems to hint at more than just "getting warmer":

Q. "@Onnie5000: @Gary_Jerry 71 minutes to respond to a question in one of the rounds? (Rice clue???)"

A. @Gary_Jerry: @Onnie5000 Good thinking - the rice and 71 oddly fit together for #DisneyMP Search.

Kathy, time will definitely answer all mysteries.

Yeah, I saw that one, too. Those two things seem pretty different, so I just can't tell where he's going. But you're right. Time will tell! And maybe only a week or so to go!!!!!

I really think next Friday (10/10) will be the day. Gary had said it would be a week to ten days after 10/1 (when there was so much speculation regarding 10/1 being the date -- with the "71" clue) and he confirmed that it would be mid-October in response to someone's question on Twitter.

If I recall, both last year and the year before, the Round 2 notifications went out on a Friday. I think that's because of the video requirement and applicants having more time to complete something like that over the weekend. I'm pretty sure that prior to 2012, even though the Round 2 notifications went out during a different day of the week, 2012 was the first year that they had the video requirement for Round 2 (I think prior to that it was for Round 3, but I could be mistaken).

So, with all of that said, I think we've got a week to go.

I finally registered for an account, and I just wanted to drop in to wish everyone good luck!

I entered for the first time this year, and I'm excited to see how the process goes. Whether I'm selected or not, it'll be fun to be involved in any rounds I get to complete, and it'll be fun to be a part of the waiting process, too. (If my September had been less busy, I would have been part of the waiting room earlier!)

Welcome! I think we are all hoping we will find out this week! I know I am. Whatever happens we are all here to cheer on those who continue. I know for years I have enjoyed watching everyone else go through all the rounds whether I have been in them or not.

I'm really hoping this is the week for info, too! Now that we're down to the end of Round 1, I'm starting to get excited for some news.

Even if I don't make it to the next round, I'll definitely stick around to hear about how others are doing in the process. That's one of the best things about the Panel searches!

mjaclyn, you're probably right about next week. I just saw this tweet from gary_jerry (dated 10/6/14)

"To ease any angst I can, R2 of #DisneyMP will not be announced this week."

So I'm hoping sometime next week instead.
