Has anyone rented a Disney stroller and then used it as a wheelchair? I have recently read where they were used for children with sensory issues, autism and I think I definately should go this route and use a stroller as a wheelchair in line to "shield" her but some have said the sensory issue kids like the hardness of the Disney park stroller themselves. So - has anyone gone this route and used the park stroller? Does it fit okay in the lines? How about the double Disney stroller??

People have posted in the past that they did this without a problem.

Rent a stroller and have fun. Lots of people had strollers and I saw big kids, I'd say up to 8 or 9 yo in them. If it works for you and your kids go for it. Disney won't say anything and most people are so into their own trip that no one will even notice! Have fun and don't worry. Anything that helps our differently abled kids enjoy WDW is fine with me!!

I would be interested in anyone's experiences. I definately think the stroller would help her feel more secure. I am just unsure of whether to bring one from home or use the Disney one. I am trying to weigh them against each other, the Disney one is roomier, but ours could be taken on the monorail. I guess I could "leave" our stroller somewhere in the park until the end of the day. Did I read somewhere that perhaps the stroller rental place would hold your stroller for you when you rent the Disney one?? I have always thought the hard-sided Disney ones seem bulky. I am stressed over whether it is better to bring and use my own. However, it DOES seem better for my daughter as far as room. What to do, what to do... my daughter is having more outbursts lately and having episodes where she gets very insecure and screams "help me help me"... since she is Chinese I hope no one thinks we are kidnapping her!

It really depends on the child herself. Would something familiar be more comforting to her? My daughter is your typical Aspie child she loves firm. She admits to sleeping on the floor sometimes when she is with her dad. Although she also loves sinking into the foam pad on my bed here. I guess you could say she likes it one way or the other and not somewhere in between.

Seveal people lately have posted that they brought their own stroller and then were able to rent one and leave theirs at the stroller rental area.
If you were able to do that, you would kind of have the best of both worlds (familiar and the park rental stroller; plus you would have a stroller to get back to the resort with).

The firm Disney strollers are very easy to push - many people who looked at the pictures of them and thought they would be difficult to use were very pleasantly surprised.

A plus of your own stroller would be familiarity.
A plus of the park ones is that they have large canopies and solid sides that help cut down stimulation.
