Disney Park Hours

I've started planning for our Christmas trip and been looking at the park hours.

From the Disney website it looks to me like the parks are open at 8am but on other websites the parks open at 9am.

Does anyone know if the park hours on the Disney web-site take into account the Magic Hours or are they the basic hours and the magic hours are even earlier?

Also, the Magic Kingdom has EE every day - we normally avoid parks with EE as we stay off-site but now we're going to have to go at least to MK on an EE day - does anyone know if any day is better than another?

Christmas week it doesn't make that much different whether it's EE or not, it will be busy everyday, especially Christmas Day when MK will probably close early in the day due to it being full!
MK does usually open until midnight though Christmas week
