I have a disney tip! Those balloons that we pay so much for... inflate before you go home.. once you get home take it to Kroger and they will inflate the 2 part Tinkerbell one which is huge.. for only 2.00! Its better than just enjoying it for one night and then going home...

oh.. you can inflate them by inserting a straw... (the parade guy told me this)

Just wanted to pass along my tip!

Have a magical trip!

You just made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I didn't think of this.
This is why :disrocks:

That is a good idea. We used to just leave them in our hotel room.

On our February trip they were selling the cutest Valentine ballons on Main Street. Everywhere we went my girls got comments on how cool the balloons were & where did we buy them. On our last day of vacation, a dad came up to me and asked where I got the balloons. My girls and I had a powwow and decided to give the balloons to that dad's kids. Wow! You'd have thought we paid for their vacation. They were so thankful and thrilled. That is what we do from now on. :flower:

We usually buy the balloons for our girls and then on our last day they give them away to another couple of kids. You should see the shock on their faces! It makes my girls feel great to make some other kids' days! princess: princess:

thats a wonderful idea - passing the balloons to another family. I wish we would of thought of that.

we were also at disney for valentines day 2005 and I bought my daughter one of the red mickey head balloons within a balloon and she thoroughly enjoyed it (i may have even liked it more). It must been from the total fun and relaxation of the vacation that i neglected to think about how we were going to get the balloon home, i just figured we would take it on the plane with us. got to the airport, checked in, waiting at the gate...all this time no one says a thing about the balloon. then just as we are about to board, the attentant says that we can not take the balloon on board, as it may pop and startle someone. ok, what to do? i couldnt give it to anyone, they would only encounter the same fate. so i popped the balloon (trying to deflate it) and took the weight as a momento of the balloon...i was more upset than my daughter.

glad I decided to post my tip on the balloons... we actually saved it .. and inflated it again today..that is what made me think of it.. my little girl can't wait to go to Magic Kingdom.. and she has a princess room and said she needed her tinkerbell balloon inflated... That balloon looks HUGE in her room..so cute though!

all you have to do is insert a straw in it.. at the opening of the balloon.. worked perfectly!

just bumping to the top so everyone can save their balloons or share with others.

On our first trip 8 years ago DH bought me a giant Mickey balloon. I didn't know at the time you couldn't take it on the plane but when we checked our luggage for the day the hotel the bellhop told us, then went into a draw, pulled out a straw and carefully deflated my balloon so I could take it home. It is a wonderful little trick that extends the Disney magic at home! :earsboy:

Just slightly off topic. I save the Mickey shaped balloon weights and use them as zipper pulls on jackets. I fasten them with the smallest nylon zip strip I get at the dollar store, and cut the tail of the zip strip off close to the Mickey head. These balloon weights are on all balloons, even the free ones at check in. Another free souvenier.

On our last day of vacation we gave our balloon to a family just checking in.

They were so happy and so were we that we helped make their day magical.

Isn't Disney great!

A little off subject but maybe someone can help. We want to take some special balloons with us to Disney. Will be staying @ CBR. Anyone have any experience with getting balloons inflated @ that resort or in one of the parks?

My BIL is running in the Disney Marathon & we have a tradition with certain baloons that he looks for to find us in the crowds when he runs marathons.

I assume that you guys are all talking about de-flating the mylar balloons with straws, not the rubbery-latex kind, right? Mylar balloons are sturdy enough to be re-inflated over and over again. (These are the big shiny "metal" like ballons.)

We keep special mylar balloons and get them re-inflated at the grocery store. I have never done the straw thing, but will definitely try that next time.

How about buying them deflated already?

I don't know how much they cost as we were in a big rush to go on a night out the last time I went there. (How much really?)

One of the crew members told me before I left that I could buy them deflated at the City Hall. ( Are they Disneyland exclusives?)

I also think that they can inflate your special balloons there. Just ask any of the crew.

I was told that I could use their helium near the luggage hold area for my little girl when we were at ASM.

Thanks everyone for the ideas on where to get my balloons filled. Just picked them up & packed them.
