I have heard that there is an outlet store somewhere near DLR. Does anyone have a website or address? I also need to find out if it is open on Sundays. Thanks!

It's in Fullerton, and it's not that great. It isn't run by Disney, it's run by a liquidation company. Not worth the stop in my opinion. Let me see if I can find the address.

We went on our way out of town last yr. Bought a couple things but it was a huge disappointment. I got a really cheap disney photo album but I was hoping they would have some decent frames and other things. More options at Wal Mart across the street.

There are "Disney Store Outlets", which are the outlet mall equivalents of the Disney Store locations that you'll find primarily in shopping malls. Only four in California. Ironically enough, there are two in Las Vegas.

The place is now known as "Character Depot". They aren't exclusively Disney items any more. A lot of it is liquidated Disney parks items, as well as lots of stuff that are the types of items you might find in off-price stores. I did visit their Las Vegas location recently. A lot of what they had was junk, but there were some items we bought that our kid is nuts about.

It used to be called Character Warehouse and was good when it was, but I would say over the last year and half or so (basically since they started carrying non-disney items), it has gone way downhill and is no longer worth a trip, especially since they moved into the new location, which appears to have higher overhead and causes higher prices.

It used to be called Disney Character Warehouse, now I believe it is just Character Warehouse. Disney stopped sending park merchandise there, and now use their own outlets across the country. There is one in Vegas and one in Oxnard. I don't believe there is one open to the public near Anaheim, just the CM store.

Oh yeah, the Disney Outlet Stores (like Disney Store you see in the mall, but outlet version) those are good.

The Character Depot thing in Fullerton is NOT good.

We are going to be in Carlsbad and doing San Diego Zoo/Seaworld before heading up to Anaheim. Is the Disney Store outlet in San Diego anywhere near those locations?

We are driving from Carslbad up to Anaheim on Sunday (March 3rd), but we won't want to use one of our 5 days from our 5-day hopper that day, so I'm trying to find some fun things to do on our way up. Doesn't sound like this Character Warehouse is too exciting, although if it isn't too much out of the way, might be fun to look anyway. I think we'll do some grocery shopping and a Costco run somewhere near DL anyway that day before turning in our rental car.

It's literally 1200 ft from Tijuana, about 50 miles from Carlsbad, and maybe a good 20 miles from the places you mentioned in San Diego.

The other two stores in Southern California are way in the boonies - Ontario and Camarillo.

Concur with the previous views on the store in Fullerton. It was once great, but is now a complete waste of time.

In October, we went to the one in San Diego. It did have some park merchandise and some of it was really cheap. Mostly charachter plushes and out of season clothing. My wife and boys found some shirts and other clothing items. I would say it's worth it if you are already going to be in San Diego, but not worth a drive just for the store alone.

Agree with PP the store in SD is very nice, when we lived in SD we would always go there prior to Disneyland trips. The rest of the mall/outlet is very nice as well. Just make sure you get of the freeway because it is the last US exit and if you keep going you will be in Tijuana.

Hmmm, maybe we can do that after going to the SD zoo? Looks like the zoo is a little closer than Seaworld to it. Thanks! I bet my girls would love to shop there before going to Disneyland! :-)

Google Maps says 20 minutes from the San Diego Zoo to the outlet mall. It's in San Ysidro. San Diego is weird. They have a southern section separated from the northern section. The mall is right against the border with Mexico.

Unless its rush hour, it should be an easy drive from the zoo. The 5 freeway will take you directly there.
