I have been to the MK on the 4th of July to watch the fireworks. Of course it was packed.

They have fantastic fireworks on the 3rd and the 4th. We saw them on the 3rd because the crowds were INSANE on the 4th. They are the same fireworks each day and it was the best decision we made that trip.:lmao:

We have been twice over the 4th of July (2006 and 2009), and we actually didn't think the parks were that crowded. I think we were expecting it to be terrible, so the fact that it wasn't terrible made it so amazing that we didn't notice the crowds.

My recommendations are the 3rd and 4th to visit Epcot and MK. Both put on great Fireworks shows. But be prepared this is a peak time for the park, Crowds can get crazy.

Been there twice for the July 4th in 1999 and 2005. The inside family joke is the announcer saying "now for the GRAND finale!" The fireworks are amazing I think they are shown in two places at the same time (someone please correct me if I am wrong) Not sure if they still do this but at Epcot at the American Adventrue they used to give out flags. Beware of crowds - its the 2nd busiest day at WDW next to Christmas. In 2005 it took us 120 mins to get on the Haunted Mansion! I will never forget that!

thanks for all the replys I want to know if we went to animal kingdom in the morning and then to epcot or mk in the afternoon on the fourth of july would work i was thinking animal kingdom would not be as crowed because it does not have fireworks but was worried we will not be able to enter mk afternoon because it will be full we are staying at port orleans so hopefully we would be able to get in.

I went to MK for the 4th because I really wanted to see the fireworks. It was breathtaking. they did perimeter fireworks w/ wonderful music and there was more people than I could ever tell you. Would I do it again ? never. but to have done it one time was completely worth it. :goodvibes it was so magical. We actually stood in front of the castle to watch the fireworks and couldn't sit because we were just sardines all packed in. Ride wait times were over 100 minutes so we didn't do everything that day. but to see the parade and the fireworks in the Magic Kingdom on the 4th ? You will never be more proud to be an American....it brings tears to your eyes.

Haven't done MK for the 4th but I worked the 4th at Epcot in 2004 and the fireworks that night were fantastic. It was a bit crowded though... :)
