Disney on the Cheap?

We got married at Disney in 2000 - it is a wonderful place for this very special occassion :)

Congratulations to you.

Cheeck really see, as ive been with Virgin several times im a "frequent virgin" so i got a quote from them and went down to a local travel agent and said can u beat this, so they did. I then went back to virgin and said the same to them and they beat the offer of thomas cook, so really i cheated and played them off against each other for a while!

Worked tho!!

Also virgin occassional mess up with their discounts, if you play around with their online booking when ever they load on their discounts several times ive noticed that they have put the wrong prices on! if u book it online they usually honor that price!

I have had a quote from Disney Weddings and to do an intimate wedding with the people ive got going is about $4000. But i got a quote for the local hotel to hire a room for the reception and its going to be £2500 for just the hall soooo doesnt make alot of difference that way.

Anyway my parents and my fiances parents are paying for the wedding and the moneys not an issue there - i just dont want to ask them to pay for another trip there for me, there paying enough already lol!

When you go with Travel city direct is there a non driving option, each time i try to get a quote i have to have a car - but im not old enough to drive out there (apparently you have to be 25 on an english licence?)

I have to disagree here. Lots of people immediately discard the idea of staying onsite, billing it as too expensive. However, one can get rates for under $70/night at some of the Value Resorts. I think that very few people would not regard that as cheap.

Yeah, but for what resort and what time of the year?

Based on your signature, you have a taste for the better class of hotel and I would say the same of me. If going do on-site, gonna use acceptable standard of room and that means mid-price (CBR say) at least.

We have tried the cheap resorts at DLP and found them uncomfortably cramped. I guess All Stars and Pop Century are not the most generous rooms? ::MickeyMo

If you are looking to stay onsite but without breaking the bank there is absolutely nothing wrong with All Stars or Pop. In my job as a travel agent I have been fortunate to stay at some gorgeous 5 star hotels over the years but I have not always had the money to spend on my own personal holidays. I've stayed at All Stars twice and the rooms there are not much different from Caribbean Beach in terms of size (we visited CBR last year on a familiarisation trip). I actually think that the value resorts are terrific value for money and shouldn't be dismissed.

I would also rather stay at one of these resorts than the likes of a Comfort Inn or Quality Inn. Nothing wrong with these either but not as magical as staying onsite with all the great transportation.

Yeah its the transportation that does it for me, nothing like getting up and jumping straight onto a bus!
