Hi Fellow Australian Disney fans :)

So this weekend my husband and I experienced a little infusion of Disney magic we love so much right here in Perth! Disney on Ice - Princesses and Heroes made it's way to Perth and I thought i'd share the photographs with you guys so you could have a little infusion of Disney yourselves :)

We were very excited as we had front row seats :) I even bought my Red Car Trolley California Adventure Hat since I knew they were selling Disney Mickey/Minnie ears and crowns with ears and such...I had to disappoint one little girl who wanted to know where my hat had come from, and of course I had to say Disneyland to which she seemed disappointed as I think she wanted to get one and assumed it had been sold on the night!

My husband Jared...

This was our view of the show - we were at the front but right at the back on the side of the rink - we had a great view of all the ice but not of the backdrop and the end choreographed poses were always to the front so we inevitably ended up looking at backsides when they finished a big musical number - however, in general, there wasn't that much impeded by sitting right on the edge as they do face all sides during the performances...

This is what our view would have looked like had we been sitting at the front of the the ice rink..

More views of the ice before the show started from our seat - as you can see - we could see the whole thing fine..

I shall premise the rest of the pictures by saying some of these are a little blurry - the skaters move fast and I like some of the blurred images and how they capture the movement of the skaters - I generally tried to make sure something in the photo was in focus. We were also testing our night mode and sports mode for our big Disney trip in November (Tokyo Disney, WDW, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando and Disneyland Resort - YAY - only 3 months 8 days away!:cool1:) - so we just had a bit of fun with it!

Mickey and Minnie start the show

Mickey and Minnie obviously start the show - the Tinkerbell comes out to sprinkle pixie dust to create the stories that follow (of Princesses and Heroes)...she really did sprinkle dust too - was so cool - but unfortunately I don't have any pictures of her as she always moved so QUICK, just like Tinkerbell! Actually, the only performer that fell was Tinkerbell (perhaps because she was moving so fast) - and she did it so well, she got up stuck her hands on her hips, shook her head and looked annoyed - just in character and just like Tink! It was almost as though it was supposed to happen (though I don't think it was as it was during a hard jump/turn thing)

So anyway after that we segway into the story of Aladdin - This first pic of the camel isn't great but I though these guys were amazing considering that had to keep perfect time and balance with each other all the time!

Aladdin in 'One Jump'

Genie was a little creepy! Like all the masked characters his face didn't move - but unlike in the parks it just looked creepy :P

One of the many amazing lifts/stunts performed by the very talented skaters!

Next up was Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

Hi-Ho - Hi-Ho :)

I'm Wishing...

Beauty and the Beast was up next

Be Our Guest

Next was the story of The Little Mermaid - this was the longest and coolest story of the show - the stunts performer by the 'sailors' while singing 'Fathom's Below' were amazing - check out the photos!

The daughters of Triton

The Little Mermaid continues...

Next was Down in New Orleans and Almost There from Princess and the Frog...

Sleeping Beauty came next and yes, they bought out the Maleficent Dragon - Very cool!

It actually spurted fire!

Ohh just noticed - Tinkerbell is in this shot - on the first level stage! Woohoo we did get a picture of her!

Cinderella's Ball was the last segement - the Stepsisters came out also and were quiet hilarious in their antics however I don't have any pictures to share of that!

Oh Almost forgot about Rapunzel and Flynn Ride from Tangled - they did a short segement after the ball!

The ending saw all the Princesses and various extras skating on the ice - it was very elaborate and beautiful how they all skated between each other doing stunts and twirls and spins...I wish the photos could have captured it better!

Did manage to get this shot of all the Princesses - Rapunzel is hiding behind Snow White...

Tink, as the magical hostess of the story got to sit in the Cinderella Carriage which raised up and then, in true Disney fashion, spurted fireworks..

It was a truly magical Disney ending :)

And so we left, happy to have had a small infusion of Disney Magic here in our hometown...usually we have to hit the parks for that!

And hopefully this small report will help you feel that little bit of Disney magic this week :)

Thank you so much for sharing. I took DD in Sydney, we were front on but quite a few rows up. She wanted to know about the ramp, I will show her tonight. It's also good to see the faces from a new angle.

Yes thanks for sharing. This looked very good. I took my DD about 15 or more years ago when Disney on Ice first started touring in Aus and was so disappointed - the show was so slack and having grown up with the Wembley Xmas Pantomime on Ice in London I was thoroughly unimpressed - including I seem to remember with how little skating they actually did back then other than just holding hands going round the circle. Glad to see they now deliver a top notch show!

Glad to hear the shows have got better - can't imagine how boring it would be to watch people skate in circles all night!

My only criticism of the show was that they didn't really seem to think about the side views when doing the big musical numbers - every prop was facing the front, some blocking the view of the skaters interacting with each other and every ending was posed to the front. Given that probably 3/4 of the audience was on the sides of the rink this didn't seem well thought out - though these numbers were smaller in proportion to the couples skating performances, which could be seen fine from every angle as would any normal skating performance...I'm not really an expert in ice skating (we dont really have it here in Australia) but I thought their performances and stunts were pretty damn amazing! And they definitely didn't just skate round in circles :)

A little bit of Disney magic in your home town has got to be a good thing. Thanks for sharing :goodvibes
