Disney offering future stay package program. Would you do it?

Looking at the timing and the fact that the package includes the dining plan, it makes me suspect there will not be free dining this year.

I don't think this will stop them from offering it next year. They extended the booking date this year to entice more people, and when we went in 2005 we got the free dining with a "special email code" which they opened to the general public later. To make a long story short, I don't think this special package will keep them from offering it next year. At least I hope not. ;)

Besides, only a small percentage of those interested in free dining will actually be there this Dec.
I am guessing they will offer a comparable sale for that time to the general public, or they won't have the numbers they had this year.

August/September? Value resorts? Nahhhh, I don't think so.

My thoughts exactly! Wonder how many Y&BC guests will be booking the value resort *special* .....

I remember on our first trip with DD in 2001 they offered a discount on our next Disney vacation if we booked before we left the WL. A little card was hung on our door several days before we checked out enticing us to book. I'm not sure what the discount percentage was but we definetly thought about it b/c we wanted to go back but we just weren't sure what dates to book for and if work vacation would line up.

Everything I read is to book at a value resort. I just don't get that. Are there not discounts if you want to book a mod or deluxe?

I'm going in December, and I plan on going back sometime in September. I won't know until April though for dates because my dad doesn't request vacation until then. I know that I'll be back December 2007 as and know those dates, but can't book for then with this program.

We are eligible for this discount --we plan to go next Sept for MNSSHP. DO I really have to take time out of my trip to travel to one of these resorts to book it? Seems kind of strange considering neither on of the resorts is included in the package.

I had wanted to book two connecting rooms for our family of 5, for 10 days with dining. Any thoughts on whether the discount would apply?

I would do it and we will be there during the test period but it says the return trip has to be between Aug and Sept and we won't travel in that heat. If I could book for Oct, Nov, or Dec I would do it in a second.
Ditto for us we plan on returning again next fall anyways, we would just be getting a head start! But we will never travel during that time frame d/t heat and possibility of hurricanes.

I will be going this December and we wanted to go the end of next Sept. for the halloween parade and hoping for free dinning.
I was really happy to see that article on All Ears today.
I called Disney Res. and the first CM had no clue and told me to call Pop since thats were I'll be staying Dec. Well they had no clue and told me to call Res. so I called again and got a very knowledgable CM who told me they got memos on the new promotion and said its basically free dinning and there just calling it something else.
I wanted to order it now since I have reservations for Dec. but she said I have to wait till I get there and then book the trip.
I'm glad I can get it in Dec. even if they offer it later to everyone the values might be sold out.
They don't mention a childs rate so I am guessing you just get them a park ticket like last year and they get the free dinning.

Genius idea for Disney :lmao: Get you to commit to another vacation at WDW while you are still getting the I love it here vibes :goodvibes but on the other hand if you know you will be coming back anyway, why not take advantage of it.

ITA. If I were already planning on coming back soon and knew you could afford it, it'd be great to take advantage of the discount. However, if I weren't planning another vacation that already had some rough dates, I don't think I would commit.

It is genius on Disney's part. There is no other time that I want more to go back to Disney than when I'm getting ready to leave.

No. As much fun as Disney World is, I don't think I would do it because there are so many other places I want to go in this world.

I will also be there for the test run, but I won't travel back during that period.

I already have my trip in Nov/Dec booked for next year.

This is a promotion like any other WDW promo. They just use the value resort stay as an example. Just ask a CM to price out any resort you want with the promo and you'll receive the free dining. I kind of like the idea of getting a jump start on everyone else, especially if I am planning on coming back. I also like the idea of speaking to a CM in person to plan my next vacation. I may stop by the desk when we are there in December even if we can't come during the promo time.

Traveling in August and September is hot, but it is less crowded and the parks stay open later. I would add the water park option on and go to them in the afternoon and return to the parks in the evening.

The reason we don't travel in the heat is actually because my 4yo has a lung condition that is aggitated by the extreme temps. If she didn't I would probably suck it up and deal with the heat since it would save us about $700. :guilty:

We would have! We got back from the BC on Sunday so just missed the promo. Waaah!

anyone know if this promo REQUIRES that the park tickets you puchase with the package be for the length of your stay or if you just are required to purchase as a one day one park ticket for each person in your party to get the package?

(this is the way the free dining package worked this past year. you were required to puchase park tickets to get the package, but you only had to purchase a one day one park ticket, irreguardless of the lengh of your stay in order to get the free dining for the length of your stay. Very handy for us AP holders.)

well, let's see...
if dining is $39 per night per adult x 5 nights = $195...hmmmm.......,

would free dining by any other name still "taste" as sweet?

I will have to sit down and really look at the pricing. If it technically works out to be free dining then we would consider it. We won't have DH's vacation schedule for '07 for another 3 weeks, but we will have it by the time we go to WDW on Dec. 2 so we'll know whether or not we can travel during the dates the special is offered. We'll see!

EDIT:
The regular cost for 5 nights at Pop in August, 5 day MYW base tickets for 3 adults (our DS is 10) and 5 nights of Dining is $1709.77.

IF they charge $453 per adult (me and DH) then just charge DS for his park pass (because the room charges should be in the cost for the first 2 adults and dining is "free") then the cost should be $1125 with the "special", for a savings of $584. That is obviously a much greater savings than $23 per night on a value resort for an AP discount. And our APs will be expired by then, so we'll have to purchase some sort of tickets if we go at that time. We were there Aug. 3-12 this year and it wasn't bad. :confused3
