Disney OCD--aka MissCammie is Disney Planning!

Okay y'all...I know I promised lists last night...and by last night I meant the next day...

*ahem*

It's been a nutty kind of day and I'm a wee bit frazzled! I did NOT get enough sleep last night b/c Jay didn't feel well and when he doesn't feel well he tosses and turns...or shall I say...he forcefully tosses and rolls back and forth all. night. long.

:headache:

poor baby.

I am a light sleeper so I usually end up watching television while Jay frets and tosses. He wasn't sick. He was "het up" as we say at home, about work and such...b/c he is a control freak and he ALWAYS does this before he will be away from work for any amount of time.

I finally nailed him with a tranquilizer dart.

it worked.

he's still at home asleep.

just kidding...

or am I?

*ahem*

SO...we power shopped this weekend. We got all the little odds and ends and last minute clothing necessities. We also managed to find the last two pairs of "Aqua Sox" in the state of New Jersey! (Which was not easy b/c Sports Authority isn't very organized when merchandise is no longer in season...it's just thrown in a pile...:headache: )

Jay is very gifted when it comes to digging through piles of things that most would look at just give up on...somehow he is able to find the things we need even though we waited until the LAST minute to find them.

This particular gift is the reason he found the last two "Stater Pin sets" lanyards at the THIRD Disney store we'd visited in one day! Actually he found one and I found one...I was proud of that find b/c Jay swore up and down that there was only one! Which meant that upon arrival to Animal Kingdom Lodge I'd have to race down to the gift shop while the kids are being distracted to find one more pin and lanyard set...which would not be easy b/c Sally tends to be tethered to my side on trips of any kind. Makes it hard to surprise the little poot! (we're going to put the pin lanyards in their gift baskets along with some other goodies!!:cool1: )

SO...WE *ahem* found two pin and lanyard sets. The lanyards are blue with white Mickey Heads. I had originally intended to get Sally a pink lanyard...but we waited WAY too long. The blue ones are cute though...So I figured if SallyRally wants to girlie-fy her pin collecting accessories she can do so with her very own earned Disney money!

I'll bet she'll keep the blue one.

The lanyards didn't come with medals. They had the clear plastic id holder looking things.

Honestly y'all...those medals look HEAVY...cute...but hefty. Which leads me to visions of the very cute lanyards, laden with pins and such, being carried by yours truly inside of 10 minutes!

:headache:

anyone who has pin trading kiddos, feel free to let me know how y'alls kids like or dislike the lanyards and how long they can wear them before they want someone else to tote them!

Did I talk about lists yet?

:lmao:

OH WAIT...one more thing...before I get to the original point of the post...

as far as the water parks go...

does anyone have any opinions for or against Aqua Sox or water shoes while in the park?

The cement at Typhoon Lagoon seems pretty rough to me.

But I glimpsed LOTS of barefooted little ones...in the five minutes that I was there...

*ahem*

I've heard something about aqua sox not being allowed on any of the slides...so then do people shed the water shoes for the trek to the slides or hold them as they go down? Teddy would NOT be able to keep track of his aqua sox and focus on swimming at the same time.

any thoughts?

:goodvibes

I'm germ phobic. I realize that I am kidding myself in the fight against germs most of the time...but somehow it seems more sanitary to have the kids in feet protectors as we slog around a wet environment probably teeming with athlete's foot fungus!

ick. I just made myself throw up a little bit.

ACK...just heard my name on the intercom thingie...

it's a burden being so terribly important...

or I left my key card in the "coffee closet"...again...

it's probably that...

yeah...I'm pretty sure it's that...

:headache:

;)

Lists this evening I SWEAR...

or tomorrow...

or Wednesday...

DEFINITELY this week...

:flower3:

I've so enjoyed your pre- and post-trip reports! Been lurking for a couple weeks now!

I've taken my children in December several times in the past and LOVED it! As a single parent, these trips were even MORE special as they were the result of MAJOR budgeting/planning, but combine the magic of Disney with the magic of Christmas - doesn't get much better! We've always gone the 1st half of December and crowds are very manageable!

Planning our NEXT trip - this is a big one! My oldest DS will be getting married at the gazebo at the Yacht Club resort on 12/15 - STILL don't know if the Army will grant my middle DS's leave request (currently on 2nd deployment in Iraq!!) But other "bonus" DS has just gotten approval from his leave (Marine based at Camp LeJeune here in NC) and youngest DD is all set (graduated from UNC last year and currently working at Duke Medical) - I'm just a tad proud of my crew, aren't I - sorry! Nostalgic moment!!

I'm so looking forward to your next completed trip report - it brings back such great memories of my children at the ages of Sally and Teddy - treasure those moments as they grow SO FAST (look at my "little" kids now in my signature!!)

WOW!!! You have every right to be exceedingly proud of your kids!!! What wonderful tributes to their upbringing they are!!!

Your son's wedding will be Magical!!!!

Sending good thoughts and lots of pixie dust that you will all be able to be together for such a wonderful occasion!!

thanks for posting and for sharing about your family!!!:goodvibes

Miss Cammie, even when you're not posting what you said you would, you are still too funny!

I especially liked the part about Jay and the tranquilizer dart.

Because I'm just a little nutty like that.

Or am I?;)

By the by, my Keens arrived this morning, and sadly are a no go. However fantastic the arch support, after wearing them around the house this morning, the overall fit was a bit too narrow for me, so back they go.

I'm now checking out the Teva Elixers, ordered them from Shoebuy. Fingers crossed!:goodvibes

I hear you on the Aquasocks-I was getting the last pair in SE MASS.

Re the lanyards-I'd gotten my nephews (12 and 9, so a little older than Teddy and Sally) those lanyards, but I was underwelmed by the pockets-they don't close...:scared1: :scared1: I ended up putting the starter pins on other lanyards.
I'd take the pockets off the lanyards to avoid trouble, but I'm a worrier.

Definetly wear the aqua socks at the water park. The slides that you go down without a mat or raft need you to remove the aqua socks. We just hold onto them as we slide.

And I found 2 pairs at Target!!! $5.99 each woohoo.

I can't imagine them saying you can not wear water shoes on the rides. It is just to hot to walk across the concrete without something on your feet. My biggest thing with them is they always end up bugging me so I take them off. I have even worn flip flops on some of the slides.

bummer about your Keens. Which style did you get?

The Teva Elixers look pretty comfy!!! I hope those work better!!!

Thanks everybody for your thoughts on the aqua sox! I'm just too paranoid about feet injury and swamp foot...the kids will be happier too with something on their feet. I know the pavement gets super hot and it appears to be a bit rough too!

we'll just figure out how to hang on to them when we slide!

I purchased the Calistoga Sandal. They looked adorable, but just didn't fit right.

The Teva Elixers look pretty comfy!!! I hope those work better!!!

I really am a flip flop girl at heart, and all the reading on the DIS has made me try lots of different things. Some have worked, some have not, but I'm going back to basics, and trying a souped up flip flop. I hope it works!:goodvibes

my three boys.. 6, 9, 11.. all wear their lanyards, never take them off, and love them.

We don't do the heavy metals for the bottom. On *rough* rides, they tuck them into their shirts. Mom doesn't hold them. I don't carry a bag, I'm not carrying their stuff. I'm mean like that. But, they never complain. They want the pins at very easy access. If I hung onto them, that would slow them down by .5 seconds, and their brothers would beat them to the good pin that they wanted to trade for.

Megan never cared for the lanyard, so she decided all on her own to put her pins on her hat.

Although I do end up putting the hat in my bag when her head gets too hot.

Love the North Face flip flops! They are brown and pink, a very nice color combination. ;)

That's a good idea about tucking the lanyards in to their shirts! I'm glad to know I'm not the only "mean" mom...well step mom...who makes kids carry their own things, HEAVEN FORBID!!:scared1:  I don't even want to tell you the ugly things people said when I admitted that on the family board...that I make the kids carry their own bags and autograph books...you'd think I'd said they had to pull me on bedazzled platform and feed me grapes all day...they only did that ONCE and they LOVED It...

*ahem*

That Megan, she's such a trend setter!!! That's a very good idea!! Teddy has a little bucket hat that would look darling with pins on it...of course a lanyard around his neck means he can't sit it down and walk away from it...then again...this is teddy...it's possible!

Which North Face flips did you get? The "ex-boyfriend" or the "W Flow Kami" style? Both are cute...although I have to say...I never managed to have the same size feet as any boy I ever dated...and even if I had, I would NEVER have put my feet into his tatty, skeevy flip flops! I don't know what kids of guys the North Face crew are dating but I sure hope they have clean feet!

ick!

I FORGOT!!! SINGLE DIGIT DANCE TIME!!!
:dance3: :dancer: party: :jumping1: :rainbow: :cheer2: :cool1: :dance3:

Oh Miss Cammie, I cant wait for the next report!!!! Here's wishing lots of fun, NOT alot of rule breaking, and the kiddos having the time of their lives!! Take lots of pictures to share with us, and have a wonderful time!!!

:dance3: SINGLE DIGITS!!!:dance3:

I think I am almost as excited about YOUR trip as I am about my own! I hope you all have a truly magical time, and I am already excited to read about it!!

Whatever will we do without you for 10 whole days?? :scared1:
