Disney OCD--aka MissCammie is Disney Planning!

Oh FUN!!! a birthday trip!!!

I want to do a birthday trip some day but my birthday is in December...I've heard nightmare stories about the outrageous crowds during the holidays.

no no no...no crowds. The nice weather and temperature does NOT make up for wall to wall people.

I'd rather sweat.

in a lady like way.

:flower3:

are you bringing your babies on the trip? Or is this a mommy's only trip?

I know this was many, many pages ago but I just finished your trippie and got caught up here (it's been a very busy summer) and I had to respond. My daughter (9), who I am thinking is Sally's twin, has a December birthday too. It is actually Dec. 23rd. We took her to Disney for her birthday in 06. I will admit that the crowds after the 26th are the worst you will ever run in to, however it is the most amazing time to visit the parks. Truly magical!

Lots of good wishes & prayers for a safe, injury & illness free, happy week for all of you. I hope you have a great time!

Loribell!!!! YAY! Glad you made it over!!!

how special that you took your little one to Disney for her special birthday! I want to see Disney at Christmas something FIERCE! I wouldn't even worry so much about the parks...I'd just tour around to the resorts and look at all the decorations!!! It's just planning it that scares me. We are so busy during that time. I'm sure I'll get there...someday!:sad1:

;)

so glad you made it over!!! Thank you so very much for the good wishes!!!

:goodvibes

I just caught on to your TR at the very end...which was kind of nice so I didn't have to wait for updates ;) although let me tell you, that my husband was none too happy at the marathon sessions I was putting in to keep up! Along the lines of "are you STILL on those boards?"

Anyway...I'm so excited you're doing a pre-trip and can't wait to hear how your next trip is and about the AK Lodge! We're doing the Poly for our first trip this Dec. but would LOVE to do AK too...

Now I've gotta check out all these sandals everyone's going on about...like I need another pair ;)

OH...and in honor of the Olympics I bought the book "Chalked Up" by Jennifer Sey. She writes about being an elite gymnast and the darker side of the sport...very expose!!! :)

I will be sure to check it out. I need a good book to bring on my trip and am always looking for recommendations.

By the way, I went and bought some Privo's yesterday and cannot WAIT to start walking around in them. I only have two weeks to totally break them in for day long trips around Europe.

And next year they will be making their way to WDW...if DH lets me have my 2nd honeymoon...that semi-Disney hater that he is. :sad2:

The lists Miss Cammie, the lists!

Just a gentle reminder to post your lists! We are now about 84 days out and I'm heading back to work on Tuesday. I need your lists to keep me on track with my preparation!

I think you have started a Keen frenzy to rival the Baggalini one!

Also watching the Olympics at our house. My boys were thrilled yesterday when I summoned them to see fencing. They LOVE fencing! Probably because of the cool silver knight-ish look of it!

Hope you found some great new flips on your shopping trip!

I have a friend who married a Disney Hater...they manage at least a trip a year!:lmao:

I hope you enjoy your Privos! Did you get flips or shoes?

Aw, we wouldn't do that! Especially if we get them with free shipping both ways.

Signed,

So, you have a bag secret? I need to know it. I think I am going to be one of those crazies with the costumes etc. I'll be hauling around. What type of bag do you guys suggest???

in taking a break from list making...I was watching the Chinese gymnasts on the bars...the little 10 year old (b/c if that child is 16 then I am Queen of England!) they have on their team FELL and she still got an OUTSTANDING score.

should be interesting.

GO USA!!!!!:cheer2:

:goodvibes

Hello Queen of England... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Can we please see the crown jewels...:rotfl:

That is just crazy. The Chinese are just amazing. :scared1:
Go Nastia, She's on Floor right now... Wow the Grace that she portrays... It's just amazing.
Go Shawn, she's up next.

GO USA GO USA...:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

What is with our girls jumping out of bounds??? I hope they pull it together!

And no kidding on that little Chinese girl...she looked 10 but of course the 9 year old boy that was in the opening ceremonies looked 4. So, if I lived in China maybe I would look 18...I'm moving to China!!!

Shawn did well...as did Nastia...I think Sam unexpectedly was not in the lineup and it threw them all a bit. I love Alicia Sacramone!!! She's a tough girl.

Vault up Next!!!

wow...Nastia ...:worship: :worship: :worship:

I'm a lurker coming out of the closet to agree with you on the Chinese girls! There is no way that girl was 16!! She's just a baby! I loved your trip report and look forward to your next one. You helped me find the disboutiquers thread that I have fallen in love with!

I got shoes; Privo Jobo is the exact name. I wore them out yesterday and they gave me SO many blisters. I had asked repeatedly if they could be worn without socks and the sales lady said it wouldn't be a problem. Well, it was a HUGE problem. By the time I got home the back of my heals were ripped apart. :scared1:

So it's on the hunt for socks that won't look completely dorky, a Dr. Scholl's remedy, or a new pair of shoes.

I guess it is back to the drawing boards. I was thinking of getting flip flops, but that's not too common in Europe. Who knows what we are going to be encountering there, even though I have been a few times that I wanted shoes for this trip.

I'm so sorry your new shoes gave you blisters! blisters are just wretched! Silly sales lady...what did she THINK would happen in brand new shoes and no socks.

That's why I don't do shoes in the summer unless it's sneakers and socks. I am all about as little on my feet as possible as long as the weather allows it!

Y'know you might try Birkenstocks. I saw those all over Europe when I was there a few summers ago. They are exceedingly supportive and comfortable. Truly, they really support your back and spine. They aren't the prettiest, but what they lack in form they make up for in function!!

The Zurich is one of my favorite Birks. The Boston is good if you want your toes covered. Sandal wise, I've got Sydney's which are cute two straps, and I've got Florida's and Orlando's!:lmao: (little Disney theme!). The Milano is great if you want a strap behind your ankle. (my little sister STOLE my blue pair...stinkpot! AND my green Arizona's now that I think about it... ) You can find decent deals for them on groundedsoles.com. I have a pair of Pisa's too...and something else...can't remember their names...one big wide strap over the front of the foot. They are all extremely comfortable and would fit right in in Europe!

I'm sorry your feet are upset.

The Privo flips are great...I'm glad to know the shoes require breaking in!

Remember...Mole Skin is our friend!!!:thumbsup2

I've so enjoyed your pre- and post-trip reports! Been lurking for a couple weeks now!

I've taken my children in December several times in the past and LOVED it! As a single parent, these trips were even MORE special as they were the result of MAJOR budgeting/planning, but combine the magic of Disney with the magic of Christmas - doesn't get much better! We've always gone the 1st half of December and crowds are very manageable!

Planning our NEXT trip - this is a big one! My oldest DS will be getting married at the gazebo at the Yacht Club resort on 12/15 - STILL don't know if the Army will grant my middle DS's leave request (currently on 2nd deployment in Iraq!!) But other "bonus" DS has just gotten approval from his leave (Marine based at Camp LeJeune here in NC) and youngest DD is all set (graduated from UNC last year and currently working at Duke Medical) - I'm just a tad proud of my crew, aren't I - sorry! Nostalgic moment!!

I'm so looking forward to your next completed trip report - it brings back such great memories of my children at the ages of Sally and Teddy - treasure those moments as they grow SO FAST (look at my "little" kids now in my signature!!)

but of course the 9 year old boy that was in the opening ceremonies looked 4.

OMG I thought he was 4 too! I almost fell outta my chair when they said he was 9!!

How's that list comin' along MissCammie?

Lurker here, coming out of hiding! I love, love, love your reports! Cracks me up all the time!!! Can't wait to see the lists and to hear about the trip when it finally gets here!

Just finished reading both your 2007 TR and your 2008 pre-TR and have enjoyed them both. It looks like we will just miss you and your lovely family; we arrive on the 31st. I'm looking forward to being able to read another MissCammie trip report; I'm sure it will help me with the PDD that I'm sure I will have after this trip!

My brother was in Iraq last year, and was able to return home for my other brother's wedding about 5 months into his deployment. Here's hoping your son will be granted the same opportunity!
